11 Things People Don’t Realize You’re Doing Because Of Your Wanderlust

God & Man

1. You get bored easily.

You hate sitting in one place for too long. Your worst nightmare is being trapped in an office for eight hours per day. You want to be outside, exploring. You want the chance to see the world.

2. You change your appearance all the time.

When you don’t have enough money for a weeklong vacation, you dye your hair or chop it off instead. It’s the closest you can get to trying something new — and you’re always on the search for something new, for the next great adventure.

3. You’re always broke.

You buy concert tickets. Plane tickets. Tickets for Broadway shows and tickets for sporting events. There are always events that you’re dying to attend — and unfortunately, that costs a lot of money.

4. You read a lot.

When you don’t have enough time or money to travel, the next best thing to do is read. That way, you still get to feel like you’re doing something exciting. You get to live vicariously through your favorite characters.

5. You don’t spend much time on social media.

You would rather talk to your friends over the phone or face-to-face than over a website. Besides, when you log onto Instagram and see pictures of everyone else on vacation, you get jealous. Then the next thing you know, you’re looking up flight and hotel information.

6. You have trouble making big life decisions.

You aren’t ready to buy a house and settle down — because you don’t know where you want to live yet. You don’t want to be chained to one place. You could imagine living in Australia or London or California. You don’t want to choose the wrong place. Not when you’re still this young.

7. You can’t stand repetition.

No, you don’t want to go to the same restaurant with the same friends for the hundredth time. You want to go someplace new, eat something new, and meet new people. You hate when life gets predictable.

8. You have friends from around the world.

Maybe you met them during your latest trip abroad and traded phone numbers. Maybe you met them online and freaked when you found out they were from a country you always wanted to visit. Either way, most of your friends aren’t within walking distance.

9. You’ve had a few flings.

It’s hard to stay in a serious relationship for a long time, since you never stay in one place and you get bored easily. One day, you’ll settle down. But for now, you’re more comfortable staying single.

10. You take a lot of photographs.

You need something to remember your trips by. That’s why you’re always snapping photos. In a few months, when life feels dull, you can look through them and remember that it’s only a matter of time until you have that much fun again.

11. You’re always counting down to something.

You count down to road trips. To plane rides. To birthdays. Even to packages that are coming in the mail. You always need something to look forward to — otherwise you feel restless. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
