This Is The Kind Of Guy That Doesn’t Deserve A Text Back

He doesn’t deserve a text back if you’re the person that always initiates the conversation. If the last ten texts in your inbox have been from you to him and he didn’t bother to answer any of them — until now. Until he was drunk and horny, until he was lonely and wanted someone to fill a few hours with.

He doesn’t deserve a text back if he ignores your texts for the whole day, even though he’s been online liking your selfies and posting stories on his Snapchat. If he picks and chooses when he wants to pay attention to you and when he wants to treat you like you’re invisible.

He doesn’t deserve a text back if your conversations seem stuck in a time loop, if he always asks you the same questions and gives you the same answers, if you feel like you’re talking to a robot instead of a person. If you feel like your talk is superficial and never meaningful.

He doesn’t deserve a text back if all of the conversations turn sexual even when you’re trying to keep things light, if he keeps begging you for nudes when all you want to do is talk to him about your day or ask him about his.

He doesn’t deserve a text back if you know that texting is all you’re ever going to do. That you’re never going to make plans to see each other face-to-face, because a five-minute conversation across a screen is as far as your relationship is ever going to go.

He doesn’t deserve a text back if he’s the type to stop answering in the middle of the conversation and eventually give some bullshit excuse about how his phone died or about how he fell asleep at eight at night.

He doesn’t deserve a text back if he makes you carry the entire conversation. If he sends you one-word messages without capitalizing any of his letters or using punctuation, while you’re sending him elaborate essays about your life.

He doesn’t deserve a text back if you can already tell it’s a booty call, if you know he is attempting to use you for sex, even though you’re looking for something serious from him. Even though you want him to be your official boyfriend.

He doesn’t deserve a text back if he dropped out of your life without warning, if he was MIA for months before he decided to send you a text to remind you that he exists and that he’s semi-interested in you.

He doesn’t deserve a text back if you pretty much forgot about him until his name popped up on your screen, and you know that talking to him again is going to bring you back to square one and make you fall for him all over again.

He doesn’t deserve a text back if it’s going to hurt you. If answering his message and letting him take hold of your heart again is more painful than deleting his number. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
