29 Disturbingly Dark Episodes Of Kid’s Shows You Won’t Believe Actually Aired
"It quickly escalates to Mr. Krabs tormenting Plankton to the point where he never leaves the Chum Bucket, has nightmares, and eventually attempts suicide. I am not exaggerating at all."
21. Squidward contemplated suicide
Spongebob Squarepants has a recent episode called “Are You Happy Now” where Squidward is revealed to not have a happiest memory (Because “Band Geeks” never existed, apparently) and falls into depression in a pretty disturbingly realistic fashion, and includes several jokes revolving around him potentially committing suicide (read: jokes about suicide), including throwing up a rope and make it look like he’s about to hang himself only to pull down a bird cage.
Spongebob thankfully doesn’t come off like an insensitive shit like in most recent episodes, and is legitimately worried (he even says “well, at least we know he’s still alive”), but that’s kind of the problem… what the hell was the point of this episode again? Were we supposed to laugh at any point of this?
22. A little girl stopped breathing
Punky Brewster.
When the kids are playing hide and seek and Cherie hides in an old refrigerator she finds outside. They find her and she isn’t breathing and it was dramatic as fuck. But luckily Punky had learned CPR in school that day so everything worked out okay.
23. Ginger talked about suicide
As Told By Ginger – “And She Was Gone” where she wrote a poem and everyone thought she wanted to kill herself. That episode was dark. I loved the ending when the poem was read out loud to music with the cool puppet doll animation.
