You’re Allowed To Wait

Roberto Nickson

You’re allowed to wait for commitment until you find your forever person. You’re allowed to wait for the right timing to settle down, start a family and build a future with someone. You’re allowed to wait for someone to become the one for you. You’re allowed to wait for someone across seas to come home to you. You’re allowed to wait for someone to get their life together. You’re allowed to wait for someone you feel strongly about. And you’re allowed to wait for someone you think is worth the wait.

You’re allowed to wait for your heart to heal. You’re allowed to take your time in moving on. You’re allowed to let yourself recover at its own pace. You’re allowed to go through the ugly, the difficult, the heartbreaking stages of letting go. And you’re allowed to be true to yourself about the time you need to get emotionally get to where you need to be.

You’re allowed to hold off on chasing your dream until you are ready. You’re allowed to take a deep breath before you make one of the biggest decisions of your life. You’re allowed to take a moment to think about what it is that you really want. You’re allowed to understand where your passion comes from and what it means to you.

You’re allowed to pause before you react. You’re allowed to take it all in and think about what just happened. You’re allowed to sort out your feelings about a situation. Or, about someone. You’re allowed to take a step back and look at what in hand from a third person perspective. You’re allowed to approach things from a calm, confident place instead of an insecure one.

You’re allowed to delay doing certain things until you financially can. You’re allowed to wait for having a child, getting a dog, or buying the house of your dreams until you can afford it. You’re allowed to wait until you have enough money to travel around the world. You’re allowed to buy the car you have always wanted until you have the income that can cover its expenses.

You’re allowed to wait until your body is ready. You’re allowed to take all the time you need to have sex with someone. You’re allowed to wait until you physically can go to the gym, on a hike or for a run. You’re allowed to give your body the time to get used to a new person, a new lifestyle, a new place; a new way of doing things. You’re allowed to wait for your body to adjust to change, good or bad. You’re allowed to wait for as long as you need to. And you’re allowed to wait for as long as you want to. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
