There’s no doubt that Wes Anderson is a great writer who creates idiosyncratic, quirky characters that are oddly likeable. But when I saw his latest (live action) film, I was beginning to get suspicious. Was there really any difference between his other films and this? Had he done anything new? I remember thinking to myself at the time, this is OK, but it’s not as good as it thinks it is. I kind of felt like saying, Come on, Wes, do something new. Luckily, Fantastic Mr. Fox was a refreshing change of pace. Admittedly, Wes is more on this list because The Darjeeling Limited is a film that would have left an impression on me, if I had been younger. But I’m sure some of you out there are thinking, I really loved that movie, but now it kinda annoys me. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
