What Your Favorite Quote Says About You

“I’m selfish, impatient, and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I’m out of control, and at times hard to handle. But if you can’t handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don’t deserve me at my best.”

The mindset of someone who actually believes this quote: I’m going to be an ass-clown 24/7 and pretend like it’s acceptable in my relationships because Marilyn Monroe, who had three marriages and multiple affairs, said so. Cool?

“Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.”

You try to appreciate life’s experiences for the experience alone, regardless of the outcome, which is admirable because that can be a tough task. I always recite this quote every time I finish the last bite of a Five Guys burger, so I can totally relate.

“Dance like there’s nobody watching, love like you’ll never be hurt, sing like there’s nobody listening, and live like it’s heaven on earth.”

You are super self-conscious, reserved, careful and wary of what everyone thinks, but maybe if you make this your Twitter bio or post it as a Facebook status and get 20+ “likes” it’ll begin to translate to your real-life personality ? I mean, it’s worth a shot, right?

“Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind.”

You’re mature, I promise, but this is the adult equivalent of a kid plugging their ears and saying “Lalalalala, can’t hear you!” to the naysayers and the critics. It also sounds a lot more intelligent than “F–k da haters!”

“You know you’re in love when you can’t fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams.”

You are in a relationship that is no longer than one month old, just give your significant other a few more weeks and they’ll see to it that not only do you find a new favorite quote, but that you think this one in particular is a crock of bull feces.

“You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.”

You have a lot of spare time and don’t like hashtags, otherwise you’d most definitely save yourself about 40 characters worth of time and just say #YOLO.

“Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.”

You’re authentic and can’t pretend to like people, specifically pretenders and try-hards who put on a different mask depending on who they’re around. OR you once tried to get the same haircut as your man/woman crush and it was a disaster, so you keep reminding yourself of these wise words.

Your love for double puns outweighs your adoration of logic. This quote makes zero dollars and no cents. There, if you like puns so much, have at that one.

You are our last little bit of hope, willing to lead by example and worry about the practicing as much, if not more than the preaching. You go, Glen Coco! Oh, geez, that reminds me…

“You go, Glen Coco!” or any Mean Girls quote for that matter.

First and foremost it means that you and I could be the best of friends. Secondly, you have impeccable taste in humor, and don’t take life too seriously which is evident in the fact that your go-to quotes come from something that airs on TBS (Very Funny™) every couple weeks.

“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.”

This quote is like Sticks & Stones 2.0. If these words resonate, that means that at some point or another, you didn’t exactly have an abundance of confidence. You’ve probably had a fair share of deprecation thrown your way, but you made a decision to stop giving haters any validation.

“Insanity is doing the same thing, over and over again, but expecting different results.”

If something doesn’t pan out exactly how you pictured it’s a disaster. You’ll scrap an entire project the instant the tiniest details fall out of place. Also, you’ve never literally done Insanity, the workout, because that’s all about doing the same thing over & over and anticipating different results.

“I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”

You hold grudges. You remember when Zack drank your Capri-Sun in third grade, you remember when the owner of a red Pontiac Sunfire (license plate: 0FV8AX) cut you off this morning, and you remember everything in between.

“Keep calm and carry on.”

You’re a mom who is at least 35 years young and can be found at local Targets across the globe.

Your dreams and aspirations are massive and you’re that spontaneous, wild, crazy friend who is always down to partake in anything from an impromptu road trip to a skinny-dipping session. Less eloquent folks might call you a down-ass-bitch, I just call you someone who clearly doesn’t have access to Netflix.

You don’t want to stop wearing fedoras or jhorts and this is a validation of the things you’re tired of justifying.

You’re as stubborn as a mule and have trouble being wrong or seeing things from another person’s perspective. That or you’re a bowling pin trying to motivate 9 of your weak-minded homies.

This has rhymes and a bit of wordplay with the whole “presents,” as in gifts, thing. So you enjoy rapping and unwrapping?

Who hurt you, pumpkin? Clearly you’re subtly throwing shade at an ex, or perhaps even current lover who didn’t treat you right when you share this quote on social media. It makes for a vicious subtweet in the form of a cutesy, classic line, but your love life is a train wreck if this is your favorite.

“Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.”

You’re very hipster-y which is why you enjoy going against the grain just for the sake of going against the grain.

“That which does not kill us makes us stronger.”

Holy, cliché, you are easily amused/entertained/satisfied. Saying this is your favorite quote is a lot like saying your favorite food is meat. Also, this sentiment isn’t the least bit accurate because there are several things (e.g. a car accident) that you can live through but not be stronger after.

“I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”

You’re a persistent little booger, which may not have paid dividends yet, but you feel confident that it will at some point along your journey. Don’t stop believing, hold on to that feeling.

“If you love somebody, let them go, for if they return, they were always yours. If they don’t, they never were.”

You take and/or give extremely bad advice. You’re definitely single, and that probably has a lot to do with you treating potential lovers like boomerangs that the laws of physics guarantee will come back to you.

“You miss 100 percent of the shots you never take.”

If this is your favorite quote then you probably spend a lot of time sitting on your biscuit, trying to convince yourself to actually take a chance. If it’s more of a lifestyle, that’s different. Having this as your state-of-mind – a let it fly, hold nothing back approach to life means you’re going to accomplish what you want or die trying.

WHAT KIND OF INSPIRATION IS THIS? You’re the Plan B having, worrier (NOT warrior) type which is why you choose a quote that basically says, “Hey, try to do great but if you just do mediocre, that’s fine too.” This sounds like a skeptical mom trying to be nice to her ambitious child, but also not get their hopes up too much. TC Mark
