I was in my room as a teenager, and we’d just recently adopted my first dog (he was an American Eskimo Dog but I don’t think that has any real relevance). It was getting late one evening but there was still some light out, and my monitor at the time was pretty bright. He liked to curl up nearby and just be around where ever I went.
I stopped playing games for a minute to go pet him, and of course he got up to greet me. I can’t remember why exactly, but I was in the middle of ruffling his neck and we both sort of… stopped, or paused. I looked down at the floor; HE looked down at the floor. A black spot appeared on the carpet for all of half a second. It was about the size of a marble’s circumference and it almost looked like a dark spot after you’ve looked at a bright light for too long, and it was quite genuinely “there” then “gone.”
I would’ve thought it was exactly that, and not thought twice about it if it weren’t for his reaction. He gave this very concerned and confused “BLERK” bark (hopefully dog owners can understand what I’m talking about, because I’m not exactly sure I do myself) and immediately dropped his nose to the carpet and started sniffing SUPER intently where the “spot” had been. I have to stress that this is the first and ONLY time I had ever seen him do this. It kinda freaked me out a bit, and we both took a break from being in my room for awhile.
