An epic post-apocalyptic action/ adventure/ fantasy graced by the likes of big names such as Mel Gibson and Tina Turner, the Mad Max series is a fantastic, terrible, awesome movie. The creativity of the costume and set design may be what makes the Mad Max series so special, but the expansive plot and unexpected twists also play a part in the film’s status as a cult classic. Admittedly, the movie is kind of terrible – from a birds-eye-view, plot is basically nonexistent and instead simply relies on a combination of chase scenes, fight scenes and scenes full of post-apocalyptic aesthetic to keep the viewer’s attention.
