How To Become A Witch

You are going to have to follow these simple steps if you want to learn how to become a witch.

If you want to learn how to become a witch, then you have to learn how to practice magick. This is different than magic, which is the kind of tricks that you see magicians perform onstage with the help of a sneaky assistant. Magic is fake. An illusion. A trick.

Magick, on the other hand, is a series of techniques to harness energy found in the natural world. It can help you change yourself and your surroundings. It can enhance your life and your perception of yourself.

Once you learn more about magick and begin casting your own spells, then you can consider yourself a real witch.

What are the different kinds of witchcraft?

There are several types of witchcraft you can choose to practice, based on what you are most interested in achieving.

Green witchcraft has to do with earth, nature, and the elements. It is perfect for anyone who feels like they do not belong in society, but has always felt a strong bound with the outside world.

Hedge witchcraft involves shamanism as well as astral projection, midwifery, and healing. This works best for spiritual people who feel like they have an extra sense the rest of the world does not have.

Kitchen witchcraft involves herbs and other natural specimens that you can find inside of your own kitchen. This is the best route for anyone who wants to spread kindness and help regular, everyday people with their work.

If all of these types of witchcraft speak to you, then you do not have to worry. Eclectic witchcraft is a blend of various traditions. It is an individualized form or witchcraft, which means that you can pick and choose what you want to practice without being confined to any particular category.

No matter which form of witchcraft you choose, the main thing to keep in mind is to remain positive. Witches believe in something called karma. They believe that if they cast positive spells, then they will receive three times that positivity back. That is why it’s so important to keep an optimistic attitude.

What items do you need to cast a spell?

How To Be A Witch

There are certain supplies you are going to need when you practice witchcraft. You can buy these items from a store, but whenever possible, it’s best to find them in the natural world instead. That means you should be searching through your backyard for anything useful instead of relying on the shops in town.

Before you can gather your ingredients, you are going to need something to place them inside. You should start with a small pot made of cast iron for heating and mixing your ingredients. You should also buy a mortar and pestle in order to ground up certain ingredients.

As for the actual ingredients, each spell is different, but you should keep around herbs, flowers, gemstones, crystals, seashells, feathers, dirt, water, driftwood, and salt. These items are important due to their symbolism and scents.

You should also make sure you have talismans or goddess statues for protection and guidance. They can help you get into the right head space for when you cast your spells.

Last but not least, you are going to need a wand. This does not have to be anything elaborate. A long stick of wood found in your backyard will work perfectly fine.

Once you have all of your ingredients ready, then you can start to think about what you want your spell to accomplish and which combination of ingredients will make that happen.

How do you cast a spell?

Unfortunately, each spell is personal. Just because it works for one witch does not mean it will work for you, which is why you cannot look up the right answer on the internet. You have to meditate and find the answer within yourself.

Try asking yourself why you are unhappy. Pinpoint the sources of stress in your life. Decide which traits you wish you could change about yourself on the inside.

Once you figure out what kind of alterations you would like to make on your life, make sure you do your research to learn about all of the different elements and what they represent, so that you can decide which ones hold the most meaning to you and which ones make the most sense for the spell you are planning to cast.

For instance, sage is meant to purify and protect. Bay leaves help enhance your vision and thinking.  Chocolate can increase charisma. Mango leaves can encourage harmony and balance.

Once you discover the right combination of elements needed to achieve your desired results, then you can group them together in a spell of your own.

Keep in mind that, unlike Harry Potter and Wizards Of Waverly Place, witchcraft follows the rules of natural law. That means you cannot cast a spell to transport yourself to another area of the globe and you cannot cast a spell to suddenly get abs without working out at the gym. You cannot defy physics. You cannot bend reality.

Your spells have more to do with changing your perceptions and inner self than your appearance and outer self.

That is why you should also avoid creating spells that would fall under the ‘black magick’ category. They are things like making your crush fall madly in love with you or making your parents give you permission to attend a party after they have already said no.

You do not want to cast any spells that interfere with another person’s free will because it is morally wrong. It is not fair to them. It takes away their decision to choose, which is something we all deserve.

However, as long as your intentions are pure, then your spells should work perfectly, you should notice a significant change in your life, and you should be able to proudly call yourself a witch. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
