How To Love The Girl Who Has Given Up On Love

Jake Young

Show her that you of all people are not going to walk out. That you are going to be the one to change her mind about love and about herself.

Show her that you are the type of person who will fight for what you believe in. And what you believe in, is her. Show her that this time, love is going to be different. That this time love will be braver and stronger and will withstand against the winds of change.

And show her that you aren’t going anywhere.

She’s scared. She’s petrified. She doesn’t want to trust someone who is going to run. She doesn’t want to start giving her heart away to someone who will go. She doesn’t want to fall so hard for someone who will give up on her.

Show her that you won’t give up. That you will love her until her wrinkles shine through her skin and her laugh lines make her smile even more beautiful. Show her that you will love her despite her mood swings and anxiety and her impatience. Show her that you will love her through the dark days where nothing is going right.

Show her that you will fight for this love because you know it’s the real thing. And show her that it’s okay to surrender to love. That it’s okay to release yourself and to fall and to relish in that feeling.

And show her that this feeling? It’s not going to go away for you or for her.

She is still shaking from the ones who left her. Reeling from the ones whose love died for her. She’s still so torn apart by people who betrayed her and by people who promised her everything and ended up giving her nothing.

She doesn’t want to be the fool this time. She doesn’t want to be the one left alone for others to pick at. She doesn’t want to be played. She doesn’t want to be laughed at by the men who run from her open and beautiful heart.

So be there for her. Show up. Don’t let her go. Make her mind know that you are different from the rest. That you are different from her exes. Make her realize that you, are finally the one, who is going to stay.

So stay.

And be truthful to your feelings. And tell her that you love her whenever you can. Hold her tightly even when she shakes. Let her lift you up when you are drowning and do the same for her. Let her be her own person. Let her be herself and love every flaw and every crevasse and every damn hole.

Show her that sometimes, love won’t end in heartbreak. And that this time? The love is going to truly last forever. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
