Change Is Scary But Change Is Good

Jamie Street

We can’t always have control over what happens in our lives. Life can’t always be fair and we can’t always get everything that we want. The most important thing we need to realize is that we’re always in complete control over the way we handle every situation that’s thrown our way. We must learn how to retrain our brains to start focusing on the things that we do have power over and find the courage to let go of a situation that didn’t work out like we wanted it to. When we aren’t satisfied with something we have two choices, we can either A. Determine whether it’s something that can be fixed or changed. or B. If the answer is yes, fix it. If the answer is no, let it go.

Change is intimidating because we don’t know what lies ahead of us. Standing on the edge, pushing forward makes it seem like a major drop-off between where we are right now and what direction we’re supposed to go next. Realize that change inspires change, and change is not always scary. Without it we would likely remain in the same place for our entire life and where’s the excitement in that? We’re constantly progressing and transforming every single day and it’s important that we learn to embody change with open arms rather than reprehend it. You may not have control over something in life, but you do have control over your reaction to it. If you lull over something that didn’t go as you planned it to then you might miss out on the possibility for things to finally go your way. Accept what you’re unable to change and be bold enough to make those changes when you’re able to so. Most importantly, be able to recognize the difference between the two.

Taking risks and blindly embarking into uncharted territory can be scary, but it inspires new beginnings and opportunities to grow. We learn lessons even from changes that did not lead you to where you wanted to be. Change allows us to move forward and help us heal our wounds. When you start focusing on new circumstances and new reasons to be happy you’ll stop paying attention to what no longer deserves a spot in your life. With that being said, you will experience loss along the way. You will find yourself leaving behind people, places, and things you once thought you could never live without. It’s a part of growing into the person you’re meant to be, and sometimes when people grow, they grow apart. Although the reason might not be clear at the time, it’s all going to make perfect sense to you someday. Each and every change reveals something new about yourself that you didn’t pay attention to before.

You will remove people from your life so that you can make room for new people. You will see how people will come and go but the memories and lessons they provide us with will always stay with us. You will need to let go of sanctuary in order to endure more opportunities. Growth transpires from struggle. You’ll be broke. You’ll be heartbroken. And to be honest, you’ll probably want to give up.

Remember that tough times don’t last forever and they’re meant to help you appreciate the good times that are just at your reach.
