If You Want To Live A Better Life, Stop Making Excuses For Yourself

Stop making excuses for yourself. I mean it.

You tell yourself every day that you aren’t good enough. You tell yourself every day that you aren’t worth it. You tell yourself night after night, that you don’t deserve what he has or what she has. You think you are ugly. You think you are weak. You think you don’t deserve a single thing that comes your way.

But, you deserve it. You know that. You just don’t have the guts to do it.

You want to travel the world. You want to get fit. You want to love that person. You want to experience new things. You want to move to a new city. You want to finally tell those people who doubted you, that they are assholes. And you want to follow your dreams.

And yet, you don’t do a damn thing.

You don’t move an inch. You don’t say anything. You don’t take the first step to accomplish your goals. You don’t even try. Because you’re too damn scared.

And I get it. It’s scary to jump out of your comfort zone. It’s terrifying to make the effort to accomplish a dream that may or may not come true.

But look, if you don’t try, then it will never, ever happen.

So, stop saying you can’t do it. Stop saying you’re too weak, or too timid. Stop saying you don’t have time. Stop saying that you aren’t worth it, and that you don’t deserve it. Stop complaining. Stop promising yourself something and never following through with it.

Stop disappointing yourself.

The only thing stopping you, is you. The only person pushing you to not do it, is you. The only person stopping you from accomplishing your goals, is you.

Make this year the time that you throw away your fears. Throw away all your doubts and your self-depreciating thoughts. Throw away your negativity. And throw away all your stupid excuses.

Just do it.

Without question. Without hesitation. And without a second thought.

Do what you have always wanted to do. Do what you want. Do what you used to dream of doing when you were six years old. Grant your old self the wish you wished on every shooting star.

Please. For yourself, stop putting yourself down. Stop telling yourself that you can’t do it. Because, darling, you actually can do it. You actually can move. You actually can make those dreams come true.

And no one is stopping you, love. Nothing and no one is stopping you.

Except for yourself. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
