1. The band Mayhem

“Here’s a short extract from the page: While performing, Dead (the lead singer) would often cut himself with hunting knives and broken glass. Additionally, the band often had pig or sheep heads impaled on stakes and planted at the front of their stage. Later, Dead committed suicide to complete his image and left a note saying, “sorry for the blood, cheers.” A band member found him and before alerting police proceeded to take a photo of his friend’s dead body. This image was later USED AS THEIR ALBUM COVER.”  — DynamiczX124

2. Albert Fish

“This is an excerpt from one of his lesser graphic letters. He wrote this to a girl’s parents:

‘I took her to an empty house in Westchester I had already picked out. When we got there, I told her to remain outside. She picked wild flowers. I went upstairs and stripped all my clothes off. I knew if I did not I would get her blood on them. When all was ready I went to the window and called her. Then I hid in a closet until she was in the room. When she saw me all naked she began to cry and tried to run down stairs. I grabbed her and she said she would tell her mama. First I stripped her naked. How she did kick – bite and scratch. I choked her to death then cut her in small pieces so I could take my meat to my room, cook, and eat it. How sweet and tender her little ass was roasted in the oven. It took me 9 days to eat her entire body. I did not fuck her though I could of had I wished. She died a virgin.'” — doorbellguy

3. Joe Metheny

“For another serial killer who fed his victims to other people, check out Joe Metheny: ‘I lured two more crackwhores up there to my trailer. I killed and butchered their bodies up. I cut the meat up and put it in some Tupperware bowls then put it in a freezer… Over the next couple weeks on the weekends I opened up a little open-pit beef stand. I had real roast beef and pork sandwiches and why not they were very good. The human body tastes was very similar to pork. If you mix it together no one can tell the difference.'” — sparrow4

4. The Jonestown mass suicide

“The thing is pretty screwed up by itself but if you have the idea of listening to the audio recording as the people start taking the poison… It was one of the very few times on the internet I’ve ever thought I really shouldn’t have listened to that.” — madkeepz

5. San Fernando Massacre

“Reports mentioned that female kidnapping victims were raped and able-bodied male kidnapping victims were forced to fight to the death with other hostages, similar to a ‘gladiator fight from ancient Rome,’ where they were given knives, hammers, machetes and clubs to find recruits who were willing to kill for their lives. In the blood sport, the survivor was recruited as a hitman for Los Zetas; those who did not survive were buried in a clandestine gravesite.” — watafu_mx

6. The Goiania Incident

“Essentially some very poor people got a hold of some highly radioactive material, and didn’t know what it was. Some people that it was a magical dust and touched it and played with it. It didn’t end well.” — HauschkasFoot

7. H.H. Holmes

“‘Holmes was constantly firing and hiring different workers during the construction of the Castle, claiming that “they were doing incompetent work.” His actual reason was to ensure that he was the only one who fully understood the design of the building.’

To his credit, that was pretty damn clever.” — CannedWolfMeat

8. Katherine Knight

“This Australian woman with all sorts of mental issues, killed her boyfriend by stabbing him 37 times, then skinned him and hung his skin in a doorway, decapited him and chopped up the rest of his body, cooked his body parts and made meals out of it with vegetables for his children to eat. If you can get your hands on the book, it is a sickening but interesting read.” — gavotron

9. The murder of Junko Futura

“‘The parents of Kamisaku were present for at least a part of the time that Furuta was held captive, and though she pleaded with them for help, they did not intervene, later claiming that they feared their son too much to do so.’ So fucking crazy. I can’t imagine what else he’s done.” — zxain

10. June and Jennifer Gibbons

“Twin sisters that only spoke to each other and after one sister killed herself the other started living a normal life. I think she is still alive.” — calm_joe

11. Rogue wave

“I think the idea of walls of water that tower over 100 feet just silently appearing and disappearing in the ocean is pretty creepy. Also the fact these are much more common than previously thought, due to the fact anyone who sees a rogue wave in person will usually die and the ones who did survive were not believed really until the last decade when our tech has been able to detect a few.” — justaprimate

12. The Dyatlov Pass Incident

“In freezing temperatures left their tents with little to no clothes and froze to death. One had her tongue and lips ripped off. “At the time the verdict was that the group members all died because of a compelling natural force.” Absolutely no explanation for it.

There was a movie released on Netflix called, “Devil’s Pass” which wasn’t a bad film. The plot is that a group of college students from America travel to Russia to investigate it and it gets all spooky.” — redditisgay77

13. Kaspar Hauser

“Kaspar Hauser was a German youth who claimed to have grown up in the total isolation of a darkened cell. Hauser’s claims, and his subsequent death by stabbing, sparked much debate and controversy. Theories propounded at the time linked him with the grand ducal House of Baden.

He claimed that he found rye bread and water next to his bed each morning. Periodically the water would taste bitter and drinking it would cause him to sleep more heavily than usual. On such occasions, when he awakened, his straw was changed and his hair and nails were cut. Hauser claimed that the first human being with whom he ever had contact was a mysterious man who visited him not long before his release, always taking great care not to reveal his face to him.” — Polarfuchs

14. Genie (feral child)

“This is a chicken/egg thing.

Was her brain fucked up by her genetics, causing her to develop badly? Maybe.

Was her brain fucked up by near-total lack of socialization, language, and being able to move around? Maybe.

One way or the other, she was practically mute. If she had a normally-developed brain, then the total lack of language really screwed with her. If she had an abnormally developed brain, then she should have seen some sort of language and social skills.

Either way, this is a crime beyond comprehension to me. If my daughter was put in solitary confinement for even 1 hour, I would be absolutely livid.” — superkp

15. Dnepropetrovsk maniacs

“The Dnepropetrovsk maniacs are Ukrainian serial killers responsible for a string of murders in Dnepropetrovsk, in June and July 2007.

The case gained additional notoriety because the killers made video recordings of some of the murders, with one of the videos leaking to the Internet. Two 19‑year-old locals, Viktor Sayenko (Ukrainian: Віктор Саєнко, Russian: Виктор Саенко) and Igor Suprunyuk (Ukrainian: Ігор Супрунюк, Russian: Игорь Супрунюк), were arrested and charged with 21 murders.

A third conspirator, Alexander Hanzha (Ukrainian: Олександр Ганжа, Russian: Александр Ганжа) was charged with two armed robberies that took place before the murder spree.

On February 11, 2009, all three defendants were found guilty. Suprunyuk and Sayenko were sentenced to life imprisonment, while Hanzha received nine years in prison. The lawyers for Suprunyuk and Sayenko launched an appeal, which was dismissed by the Supreme Court of Ukraine in November 2009.” — Back2Bach

16. Oskar Dirlewanger

“A sadistic Nazi officer leading a penal battalion of all kinds of convicts, even people from mental asylums. His behavior and the behavior of his unit were so messed up that the rest of the SS didn’t want anything to do with him.” — panzercthulhu

17. Tarrare

“French guy in the 1700s that could eat inhuman amounts but would always still feel incredibly hungry. Did everything from eating old guts and gunk out of the gutter to supposedly eating a baby.” — Shorvok

“The symptoms are similar to those of sleep paralysis.” — Blu_Phoenix

20. El Mozote massacre

“Children as young as 10 were raped, throats slit then hung from trees. Truly fucked up.” — ice_espresso

21. The Family Murders

“This happened where I live in Adelaide, South Australia. Search ‘The Family Murders.’ A group of men in high power drugged, raped and murdered some teenage boys in bizarre and horrendous ways and were not caught for years later, really disturbing details and not one of the more known events of it’s kind. Quite Dahmerish in a way.” — Joneswizards

22. The Bloop

“The source was a mystery both because it was different from known sounds and because it was several times louder than the loudest recorded animal.” —__soitgoes

23. Unit 731

“As a Chinese person who recently visited the war crimes museum in Harbin, I’d have to say Unit 731. Visiting the museum and then reading about it was a surreal experience.” — corin26

24. L’Inconnue de la Seine

“L’Inconnue de la Seine Or the Unknown Woman of the Seine. A girl was found floating in the Seine and taken to the morgue where a pathologist found her so beautiful he took a plaster cast of her face. The fact that it became a popular and bohemian thing to have a copy of the cast is unsettling to me.” — Wonderland_weirdo

25. Humans

“The wiki page for humans. It’s almost like it was written by aliens.” — Withmahdeeyuck Thought Catalog Logo Mark
