12 Signs You’re Actually Getting Your Life Together

1. You have (mostly) learned how to control the need to impulse buy.

While you may not always strictly stick to a budget, you also aren’t constantly suckered into SPECIAL-HALF-OFF-BUY-EVERYTHING-RIGHT-NOW deals. You’ve figured out what you need vs. what you want, and when it’s okay to splurge a little.

2. You’re down to eat some veggies.

Remember when you were a little kid and thought salad was some concoction created by the devil? Anything green was simply unacceptable. While these days you’re not exactly a health guru, you eat vegetables and don’t hate it.

3. You don’t wait until you’ve run out of underwear to do laundry.

Your hamper isn’t constantly overflowing (okay, sometimes). And you don’t ever have to turn to wearing swimsuit bottoms because you’re out of underwear options. Okay. Maybe once.

4. You have a job.

Maybe it’s not your dream career. Maybe it’s just for now. But you still have a job. Don’t downplay the importance of having a paycheck.

5. You call your parents for reasons other than needing financial help.

Like, you know, just to say hello.

6. You’re proactive with your health.

If something seems a little wonky, you’ll schedule a doctor appointment just to be safe. You don’t expect anyone to take care of you. You take things into your own hands.

7. You calculate when it’s okay to risk having a hangover.

You’re not rolling into the office Monday morning still sh*tfaced anymore. Those days are becoming a distant memory and honestly? It feels WAY better. Not that you don’t have the occasional ~*~*~irresponsible~**~ night, but not if it comes at the expense of your well-being the next day when important things are expected of you.

8. You can communicate your needs.

You have no problem letting someone know what you need. And you know the crucial difference between being kind and courteous, and letting someone know how you feel.

9. You have a savings account.

Even if there’s only $20 in it. It’s a start.

10. You don’t get absorbed in adolescent drama.

It’s human nature to gossip every now and then. We’re people! We talk! We can’t help it. But you’re pretty far removed from any I HATE DRAMA (secretly love it) phase. You’re more focused on your own thing and less preoccupied with what other people are doing.

11. You strive to be better.

You check in with yourself and goals to see how you’re doing and how you can get to the next level. Maybe not on some grand scale. Maybe it’s as small as deciding to just watch two to three episodes of something (instead of binging on an entire show and accomplishing nothing). You’re not afraid to do some self-reflection and see what ways you can improve upon.

12. You are able to recognize when you’ve screwed up.

And you don’t beat yourself up for it. Nobody 100% has their life together. Maybe if you’re like, a freaky perfect robot. But us humans? Nope. Not gonna happen. So, when you do screw up, you both recognize and accept it. And you learn from it. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
