Sarah Michelle Gellar Gifts Her Daughter A Very Expensive Car, Fueling Debate On Money + Climate
Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. have a daughter together. Her name is Charlotte and she just turned 16 a few days ago. Social media is on fire about her sweet 16 birthday gift.

To celebrate the day, Gellar made a beautiful Instagram carousel dedicated to her daughter. The post had a series of images of Charlotte as a baby. It’s actually super sweet collection of photos and heartwarming.
But! Then the internet saw something in one of the photos. Charlotte received a new Jeep Rubicon (shown in the Instagram carousel with a bow in the driveway). Gellar called Charlotte her “best friend” and said she’s “excited to finally be your passenger PRINZEss.”

Online critics called the Jeep “tone deaf,” “ridiculous for a 16-year-old,” unsafe, and bad for the environment, arguing it normalizes wealth and erodes lessons about work. One commenter wrote: “Really great choice of first car for the planet.. go burn loads of fuel on roads with your off road 4×4!
Though, really all the feedback was bad. Most people wished Charlotte a happy birthday. Celebs, friends, and brands flooded the post with birthday wishes (Reese Witherspoon, Brenda Song, E! News, Jeep) and nostalgia (“can’t believe it’s been 16 years,” “Freddie’s mini-me”). There were also fun pop-culture nods (“She’s All That” vibes, Buffy/Jeep jokes).
I don’t know, I personally thought her whole post was pretty sweet. Of course celebrities are going to buy nice things for their kids. I’d rather they share it openly than hide it and pretend they’re handing their kids an old used RAV4 from 2001.
