2 New True Crime Series To Watch On Netflix In September

By

This month’s latest true crime releases are all about romance. How heady hormones and lustful limerence drive people to commit atrocious crimes, or fall victim to them, all in the name of searching for that special someone.

So before you turn on one of these shows to “Netflix and chill”, make sure your date isn’t an escaped prisoner or an online con-artist. True crime is an educational genre after all…

Beauty and the Bester (9/12)

This three-episode series explores the scandal of a South-African celebrity doctor and a murder-rapist who faked his own death in order to escape from prison. Dr. Nandipha Magudumana and Thabo Bester were eventually arrested after appearing in public together after over a year on the run, but this true crime treat will take you through all the shocking details from start to finish, ahead of an appeal trial set for this month.

Love Con Revenge (9/5)

The Tinder Swindler‘s Cecilie Fjellhøy is back on Netflix with a new six-part series tackling romance-fraud. Joined by private investigator Brianne Joseph, the two women are helping similar victims expose online con artists, including “Selfie Scammer” Todd Dean. Covering the financial, legal, and psychological aspects at play, the series aims to raise awareness so tactics can be recognized and avoided in the future.
