Schindlers List

4 Ultra-Looong Movies That Deserve Your Attention

By

TikTok and Instagram Reels have reshaped our brains, shrinking our attention spans, so sitting through a movie lasting over three hours feels like a major accomplishment.

But I believe you can accomplish hard things, and I urge you to give these iconic but ever-so-long films a watch.

The Sound Of Music (1965)

Runtime: 2 hours, 54 minutes

For viewers who enjoy: musicals, WWII history, Hollywood classics.

Why watch it: If you love old Hollywood films with catchy music, tingle-inducing romance, and a sprinkle of danger, The Sound Of Music is for you.

Schindler’s List (1993)

Runtime: 3 hours, 15 minutes

For viewers who enjoy: historical dramas, WWII history, profound storytelling.

Why watch it: An emotionally powerful story about courage and compassion amidst one of history’s darkest times.

Titanic (1997)

Runtime: 3 hours, 14 minutes

For viewers who enjoy: historical fiction, timeless love stories, remarkable special effects.

Why watch it: Wait has anyone actually not seen this movie? Do I really need to explain why this is one of the best movies Hollywood ever made?

The Irishmen (2019)

Runtime: 3 hours, 29 minutes

For viewers who enjoy: Martin Scorcese films, Italian American gangster films, and hitman movies.

Why watch it: If you’re into mob movies with all the big names and classic gangster themes of loyalty, regret, and violence, The Irishman is well worth the ride. It’s a slow burn, but the payoff is there. Plus you even get an intermission halfway through to stretch your legs.
