Elf / Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy

Between Will Ferrell’s newest 2025 release with Reese Witherspoon, You’re Cordially Invited, streaming now on Amazon Prime and his earlier 2024 film with former head Saturday Night Live writer, Harper Steele, Will & Harper, now streaming on Netflix, Will Ferrell is booked and busy!

With all the Will Ferrell buzz, we felt the overwhelming need to list his 5 best movies of all time! Read on to find out the best 5 Will Ferrell movies of all time!

Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (2004)

DreamWorks

Streaming now on Peacock, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy is as absurd as it is hysterical. Featuring an absolute incredible cast of Christina Applegate, Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, and David Koechner, this movie packs a punch! It also has some of the most quotable lines in movie history. “I’m in a glass case of emotion!”

Zoolander (2001)

Paramount Pictures

Ok, so I know what you are thinking, Will Ferrell is not the main character here so why include it? Well, Zoolander is one of the most iconic movies I’ve ever seen. Additionally, Will Ferrell is genius in this movie and I don’t believe anyone else could play Mugatu. He is dramatic, evil, fabulous, awful, and chaotic. Zoolander is now streaming on Peacock.

Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby (2006)

Sony Pictures

“I wanna go fast!” Now streaming on Hulu, Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, does a fantastic job of highlighting the satire in sports and insane spoofs that only Will Ferrell and director and co-writer Adam McKay could have designed. Looking at this cast too, Amy Adams and John C. Reilly also shine bright in the spotlight. Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby is now streaming on Hulu.

Step Brothers (2008)

Sony Pictures

This one may be the weirdest and most insane of Will Ferrell’s comedies. Now steaming on Hulu, Step Brothers is absurd and ridiculous, but in the best way possible. Adam McKay and Will Ferrell do it again, this time with the help of Adam Scott, John C. Reilly, and Kathryn Hahn.

Elf (2003)

New Line Cinema

Okay, I will admit that watching a Christmas movie in February is insane, but Elf is too good. This movie is always a must watch around the holiday time, so why not 2 months later? In Elf, Will Ferrell’s character Buddy is quirky, silly, and sweet.. what’s not to love? Zooey Deschanel is forever charming and the magic in this movie is palpable and joyful.
