Just So You Know, You Deserve To Be Happy

being happy
Cody Black

“When you let go, you create a space, for something better.”

You deserve to be happy.

Not just any kind of happy, but genuinely happy.

You have to remember that there is so much more to life than stressing over work, deadlines, finding a significant other, and setting long term goals. You put so much worry and fear into what’s coming next, that you end up missing out on the most important element, in this time, right now:

You.

Your internal world is way more essential than your external world, so bring to mind that you are a priority, too. Take time to validate your emotions and your feelings, because they are real, they are yours, and they are important.

Analyze your inner circle and let go of the people that are damaging to your mentality. Let go of the people that discredit and discourage you. Silence that voice in your head that is telling you to hold onto the false hope and hollow dreams. You, honestly, just have to cut the cord from the people that bring you down and tear you apart.

Cleanse your soul from toxic people, and don’t ever feel bad about doing it.

Just let them go.

You owe it to yourself to let them go.

Let them go to better yourself.

Let them go to mend.

Let them go to remind yourself that you are worthy.

Let them go to be genuinely happy.

Let in the people that truly care.

Start this process of letting people in, by breaking the chains that the world locked over your heart.

Become gentle.

Don’t shut out the people that want to love you.

Let in people that want to take your hand in the middle of your chaos.

Let in the people that would drive hours to see you.

Let in the people that check up on you.

Let in the people that want to hold you afloat in the middle of your dark sea.

Those are the types of people that you want to carry throughout your life.

Life can be either magically wonderful or wildly tragic, and you know that. More times than not, the people you allow in your inner circle can determine this.

Take some time and learn the difference between what you want and what you need. Just because you want to be with someone doesn’t mean you need him or her, and just because you love someone doesn’t mean they are good for you.

You have full control over the wheel this life.

Create a life where you are genuinely happy. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
