17 Surprising Revelations From ‘Rock Bottom’ With Ned Fulmer And Ariel
Former Try Guys co-founder Ned Fulmer was let go from the YouTube company three years ago when fans revealed that he’d been spotted cheating on his wife Ariel with a producer for his channel.
After years away from the spotlight, the once renowned “wife guy” is back with a podcast: Rock Bottom. But, with the first episode featuring his estranged wife speaking on her trauma from the incident, did he really hit rock bottom? Or is he just using the pain he caused to regain fame and money? These are the big revelations from the pilot episode of Rock Bottom with Ned Fulmer.
1. In Ned’s cold open, he says, in this order, “You, the viewers, I broke your trust. I betrayed my spouse, coworkers, friends, family…and I betrayed you.”
2. Ned answers the big question right away. “Everyone wants to know, are you still an item? Are you still a couple? No, we really haven’t been at all these last three years.”
3. They address the Taylor Swift situation when they were spotted at her concert shortly after the scandal: “Just because you go to a Taylor Swift concert doesn’t mean all is forgiven.”
People ask me, do you forgive Ned for what he did. The answer is no, absolutely not.

4. “People ask me, do you forgive Ned for what he did,” Ariel says. “The answer is no, absolutely not. How can you forgive someone for lying to you? Cheating on you? No, fuck no!”
5. Ned describes their relationship as a “platonic friendship.”
6. Not only did Ariel find out about the affair from fans, she had a hard time believing it. She assumed that the woman in the picture was Ned’s sister, and even texted him asking about it.
7. Cars and paparazzi followed them to and from home, including to couples’ therapy. The video captured as they walked out of them smiling was them not being happy, but instead not knowing how to handle the attention.
8. “You looked over at me and it was like the veil just fell,” Ariel said of the moment she saw him in person after she heard from fans that he was cheating. She could clearly see the guilt on his face and asked him to bring her straight back to the airport.
9. “I was the victim of this situation and yet, when you told me, I had to accept your guilt and your shame. […] When men have affairs, women are often looked at like, ‘what did you do wrong?'” Ariel spoke on how difficult it was that he felt relief in her finally knowing and it completely ruining her life. “All that guilt and shame, you gave that to me. You hoisted that on me.”
10. “What happened?” Ariel asked.
“The dream started to break apart for me. And rather than being able to talk about it or confront those feelings…I guess I was too afraid to say how I was feeling. I chose to deal with it […] in a way that was self-destructive. It was about me and the choices that I made,” Ned replied.
11. Ariel says making authentic friends who don’t care about her messy life was what helped her move on.
12. “It was three years ago. Get over yourself,” said Ariel of other parents’ reaction to their story.

13. Ariel on how she feels about Ned now: “Some days I hate your guts. Some days I enjoy your company more than not. And that’s okay. It can be both.”
14. “I see myself as more of a host to help people tell their own stories,” Ned said when asked what he’s going to do now.
15. “My rock bottom was, that night, when you sent me a text that said, ‘I don’t think we can get past this.'”
16. “We live separately,” Ariel said.
17. “No, that era is over,” said Ariel on returning to her old podcast, which likely refers to You Can Sit With Us.
