Have these clips been showing up on your TikTok feed but you have no idea where they come from? I’ve solved the mystery for you.

If your TikTok FYP is anything like mine, likely intermixed between the dance trends and cooking videos are clips from movies. It seems like it’s very specific movies, too. Suddenly every other video will be different clips from the same movie, rarely ever saying what it’s actually from–and the comments are no help there, either. It’ll be flooded with people asking what the movie is but no one’s answering them. That’s where I come in! I’ve found three movies that may be filling up your FYP right now, what makes them special, and where you can stream them. (You’re welcome for solving the mystery!)

Dinner in America (2020)

Best & Final Releasing

What you’ve been seeing on your FYP: Crazy chemistry and the “Watermelon” song

If you ever wanted an example of the most bonkers amount of onscreen chemistry, especially with the longing the leading man can have while gazing at the leading lady, watch Dinner in America. A darker and more “realistic” indie version of the classic rom com, it follows punk rocker Simon on the run from the law running into his biggest fan. It features one of the best original songs from a movie in recent years, which may be what’s been popping up on your FYP. Watch it for the song, “Watermelon,” or for the way Simon gazes at Patty while she sings it. This is one of those movies that will change your brain chemistry. Watch Dinner in America on Hulu.

Boot Camp (2024)

Channel Zero

What you’ve been seeing on your FYP: Insane chemistry at a summer camp

Like Dinner in America, most of Boot Camp’s clips on TikTok are all about the chemistry between the two main characters: Cindy and Alex. Cindy unathletic and has some extra weight on her, so she signs up for a boot camp-style summer camp to help her get better. She meets her athletic and tanned personal trainer, Alex, and the sparks fly. It truly is one of the “she fell first, but he fell harder,” tropes, and I’m here for it. Best of all, it ends on a body-positive note while still centering self-improvement, which is great.  Watch Boot Camp on Amazon Video.

Flipped (2010)

Warner Bros.

What you’ve been seeing on your FYP: Edits of longing glances between two kids to “Margaret” by Lana Del Rey

Another example of “she fell first, but he fell harder,” Flipped follows young kids Juli and Bryce. As soon as she becomes his neighbor in second grade, she’s in love with him. She loves him for years, but it takes him a second to get with the program. Despite this movie being almost 15 years old, it still shows up regularly on TikTok for two good reason: It’s super cute and it’s super underrated. People make the type of edits that feature captions and comments like “find yourself a man who looks at you like Bryce looks at Juli,” and we have to agree. Watch Flipped on Max.
