A Spotify Playlist For When It Feels Like Heartbreak Is Neverending

Sometimes when nursing a broken heart, the only thing that makes a difference is music. If you feel like your heart is breaking over and over again, here are some hopeful songs to get you through it. In my case, my music taste is all over the board. So I’m sure there’s at least something on this playlist for everyone.

1. Falls by ODESZA (feat. Sasha Sloan)

Best line: “Yeah I swear I know what it’s like,

To feel alone at the end of the night.

Maybe you don’t know it, but it gets better”

These lyrics make anyone feel understood. It’s all about acknowledging the pain you feel but still realizing that things do get better, and you are not alone in feeling that way you do.

2. Break Free by Like A Storm

Best line: “I’ve become my own demise,

Paralyzed inside my mind,

Arms are weak from holding up this front.”

Break Free is about feeling stuck in what is holding you down and finally realizing that there must be another way to start over and feel better. It’s about getting out from under your pain and the determination to move forward.

3. GIRL by Maren Morris

Best line: “Girl, won’t you stop your cryin’?

I know that you’re tryin’

Everything’s gonna be okay”

GIRL is somewhat of a modern power anthem for those of us who feel totally knocked down. Life is hard, and the lyrics are completely accepting of that. However, the song is also about staying strong and picking yourself up when your head is hanging low.

4. What’s Left by Fight The Fade

Best line: “If you look behind my highlight reel,

You’ll see how empty I feel …

As empty as it seems,

You’ll never get all of me.

Because what’s left of me,

Is stronger than you’ve ever seen.”

These lyrics are about coming out and being truthful about how down you actually are. You may have been able to keep up a brave face, but it’s wearing thin now. At the end of the day though, it’s about taking your power back and letting everyone know that despite your trials, you are stronger than they’d ever know.

5. Remember Every Scar by Escape The Fate

Best line: “Hold on to that heartbreak,

Hold on to that hell you have to pay.

All the tragedies make you who you are.

Remember every scar.”

The lyrics are all about taking your heartbreak and turning it into something positive. It’s about pushing through now matter what kind of hell you’ve had to handle. Sometimes remembering our scars is the best way to make us into the stronger versions of ourselves we’ve always needed.

6. Darlin’ by Avril Lavigne

Best line: “Pretty please, I know it’s a drag.

Wipe your eyes and put up your head.”

Darlin’ is the perfect song lyrically to help you feel understood. The singer is speaking from their own perspective and letting the listener know that things will get better even though it doesn’t feel like it right now.

7. In My Blood by Shawn Mendes

Best line: “Help me, it’s like the walls are caving in.

Sometimes I feel like giving up,

No medicine is strong enough.”

These lyrics are purely about feeling like your life is crumbling, but somehow finding it in yourself to keep going. You won’t give up because that’s just not who you are. It isn’t in your blood.

8. Grow by Villain Of The Story

Best line: “There are so many times that I have fallen short,

I always thought I’d never recover.

Wishing I could reset my life and start over.

But there’s no starting over,

There’s only moving forward.”

This is more of a metal take on this playlist, however Grow is one of the most inspiring songs ever when it comes to learning from your pain and becoming better. It’s about leaving the past behind and fighting for the happiness you deserve.

9. Move Along by The All American Rejects

Best line: “When all you’ve got to keep is strong,

Move along, move along like I know you do.

And even when your hope is gone,

Move along, move along just to make it through.”

These lyrics are pretty self-explanatory. It’s all about moving forward even when it feels like there is nothing to hope for, or it seems like things just couldn’t possibly get better. The song is a motivational anthem for anyone who is trying to get back up after getting knocked down.

10. Rise Above This by Seether

Best line: “Call your name every day,

When I seem so helpless.

I’ve fallen down,

but I’ll rise above this.

I’ll mend myself before it gets me.”

Rise Above This is exactly what it sounds like it’s about. The lyrics are about feeling helpless but knowing that you will find a way to get better and rise above the heartbreak and loss you feel, against all odds.

11. Hold On Pain Ends by The Color Morale

Best line: “And now that I understand it,

I’ve never felt quite so alive.

And I feel like I’ve sang about scars a hundred times.

But for the record, I’ve found the reason for mine.”

These lyrics are about holding on and not giving up on your life despite the hurt. It’s about finding a reason for your pain and finding a reason to keep going. The singer speaks about how short our time is and how that motivates him to feel more alive and get through the hard times.

12. Stop Crying Your Heart Out by Oasis

Best line: “All of the stars have faded away,

Just try not to worry,

You’ll see them someday.”

This song is about knowing that there are better days coming and you just need to look for them. It’s about not staying down and crying yourself into sadness, but getting up and making things better for yourself.

13. Try by P!nk

Best line: “Just because it burns,

Doesn’t mean you’re gonna die.

You gotta get up and try, and try, and try.”

Try is the realization that any time your heart is invested in something, there is a chance you’ll get burned. However, that doesn’t mean you should give up. You have to get up over and over again and keep trying.
