30 Years Later, This Is Where ‘The Crow’ Cast Are Now

By

The Crow / Miramax Films

It’s time to appreciate everything that made the original The Crow so special, especially its stellar cast. Where are they now?

In May 1994, The Crow soared into theaters and the hearts of the audience around the world. The gothic-tinged supernatural film taught everyone about the power of love (better than Huey Lewis and the News ever did) and how revenge is a dish best served while wearing face paint and a trench coat. It also received mythical status due to the on-set death of lead star Brandon Lee. While Lee’s performance rightfully deserves all the praise and adoration, he wasn’t alone in creating a film that’s stood the test of time and remains a revered part of ’90s cinema. So, with that said, let’s look back at The Crow cast and what they’re up to 30 years later.

Ernie Hudson

The Crow / Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire

While the wry and sarcastic Peter Venkman gets all the attention in Ghostbusters, let’s be honest and admit the wholesome Winston Zeddemore is the real MVP of the franchise. Undoubtedly, Ernie Hudson remains tied to that role for life, even if his part as Sergeant Daryl Albrecht in The Crow showcases his wider range as an actor. Hudson is also one of the hardest working people in the business, as his filmography across both television and film could be the length of a novel. Since The Crow, he’s appeared in high-profile shows such as Law & Order, Modern Family, and Quantum Leap, while popping up in movies like the side-splitting Miss Congeniality and the barking-mad Beverly Hills Chihuahua 3: Viva la Fiesta! Hudson reprised his iconic role as Winston in 2021’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife and the 2024 sequel, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire.

Rochelle Davis

The Crow / @therochelledavis

Rochelle Davis plays the pivotal role of the young Sarah Mohr in The Crow. However, after the Brandon Lee tragedy during filming, she stepped away from acting for the most part. “I hated being recognized,” she said in a 2017 interview. “So, I ‘ran away’ from that life, so to speak. I changed my hair color and things like that to look different, I would even deny ‘being her’ when people asked. It took me two-plus decades to be ok with who I was and accept the attention.” Davis started her own podcast titled The Crow’s Nest and was working on a book about her life story with a ghostwriter. In addition, she expressed a harsh reaction to The Crow reboot trailer

Michael Wincott

The Crow / Nope

The raspy voice. The straight jet-black hair. The colder than frozen yogurt demeanor. Michael Wincott’s Top Dollar remains a grade-A bad guy on the big screen that adds a nasty touch to The Crow. There’s such an ease and chaotic calm that Wincott brings to the role and carries over into his other work as well. And he’s been busy since The Crow, too, starring in films such as Alien Resurrection, Along Came a Spider, The Count of Monte Cristo, Hitchcock, and Nope. He’s also taken on the world of television in the meantime, appearing in celebrated shows like 24: Live Another Day and Westworld. Sadly, no one has had the bright idea to cast him as a Bond villain yet because that’s money right there.

Laurence Mason

The Crow / @laurencemasonnyc

As Tin Tin, Laurence Mason terrifies viewers with his knife-wielding skills and penchant for violence in The Crow. Mason has also quietly established himself as the kind of actor people recognize in other projects but never remember his name off the bat. Some of his best post-Crow roles include his portrayals of Halpern White in The Shield, Sammy Norino in Prison Break, Lord Nikon in Hackers, and Luis Sarria in Ali. Even though he is underrated and not the most famous name from The Crow cast, there’s no disputing he’s let his talent do the talking for him throughout his career.

Michael Massee

The Crow / Intervention

In the accident that claimed Brandon Lee’s life, it was Michael Massee’s Funboy who fired the prop gun in the scene. While Massee wasn’t at fault for Lee’s death since he only acted under instruction, the event still traumatized him as he took time off from acting and refused to watch The Crow afterward. After a break, the actor returned to the industry and appeared in notable films such as Seven, The Game, and Corky Romano. Massee also featured in acclaimed television series such as 24, Alias, and Rizzoli & Isles. One of the actor’s final roles was in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 where he plays a mysterious character known as the Gentleman, who appears to be responsible for the formation of the Sinister Six (even though that plot point led to absolutely nowhere after the cancelation of the film series). In 2016, Massee died from stomach cancer.

David Patrick Kelly

The Crow / John Wick

Apart from Top Dollar, David Patrick Kelly’s sleazy gangbanger T-Bird steals the show in The Crow. Kelly was an accomplished actor and theater performer before appearing in Alex Proyas’ 1994 film, though. He appeared in classic films such as The Warriors and Malcolm X, while also finding time to light up Broadway whenever his schedule allowed for it. After The Crow, Kelly continued to spread himself across film, television, and theater. He’s proven to be quite the chameleon, too, holding the ability to disappear into parts that no one would have imagined, such as the role of the annoying Noah Shapiro in Gossip Girl. More recently, Kelly appeared as Charlie – the murder scene cleaner – in the John Wick films.

Sofia Shinas

The Crow / @sofiashinas_

Before landing the role of Shelly Webster in The Crow, Sofia Shinas embarked on a short-lived career as a musician. However, she left the music industry to take on Hollywood, with the part of Shelly being her breakout role in 1994. It opened the right doors for her to appear in the likes of Terminal Velocity and The Outer Limits, but her acting career never exploded from there on out. Even though she directed her feature film debut, My Stepdaughter, in 2015 and appeared in the odd movie here and there, Shinas has largely stayed out of the public eye. Instead, she uses her Instagram account to raise awareness about animal conversation and causes. Now that’s worthy of a follow.

Tony Todd

The Crow / Hellblazers (2022)

Tony Todd plays Top Dollar’s bodyguard, Grange, in The Crow. The actor was no stranger to fans when he took on this part as he had blown everyone away as the bee-loving, hook-handed titular character in Candyman two years earlier. Todd’s career never stuttered, especially in the horror genre, as he appeared in everything from Final Destination to Hatchet, with his booming voice becoming a trademark of his characters. In 2023, the stars aligned and the gods of entertainment finally rained down their love on the world when Todd was cast as the voice of Venom in the Spider-Man 2 video game. Cue the Magneto perfection meme.
