TV’s Cutest Small Towns We All Wish We Could Live In

If you could live in any TV show's small town, let it be one of these.

I’m a city girl, but every now and then, I get the urge to disappear to a small town tucked away in the countryside where everyone knows everyone else’s business and you can’t go to the store without running into 12 friends and acquaintances.

It would be so cute to live in an area where there’s only one option for grocery stores or coffee or going out to eat. Plus, most of the small towns I see are GORGEOUS in the fall. I mean, I’m gobsmacked really. The best small towns I’ve seen are on TV and these are the five shows that, to me, have the cutest and most quirky small towns.

Stars Hollow

Netflix

This list would not be complete without Stars Hollow, the small town of small towns on the show Gilmore Girls. The amount of TikTok search results for “small towns to visit like Stars Hollow” is honestly a little astounding. It’s a fictional town in Connecticut that is just so idyllic and perfect that it could make me a small town girl. Everyone in the town always comes together to support each other and to celebrate the beauty that is this serene little place.

Schitt’s Creek

6 Unexpected Life Lessons That Made 'Schitt's Creek' Win Over My Heart
CBC

Okay, so for the Rose’s, Schitt’s Creek may not have felt like the perfect small town, but it became home and is so cute in its own right. Schitt’s Creek is a show set in the fictional Schitt’s Creek, Canada, and it may not be incredibly fancy, but it is adorable and has so much charm and charisma to it. All of the inhabitants know each other, each other’s business, and just how to support or get under another’s skin and I think that’s beautiful. I’d love to shop at Rose Apothecary or even have lunch at Cafe Tropical.

Pawnee

NBC

I was born in Indiana and there is very little that could get me back there, but Pawnee from Parks and Rec might be about the only thing. Pawnee can be a little dysfunctional but it has so much heart and love and downright hilarious townspeople. The parks? Gorgeous. The mini horse? Undeniable. The people? Exquisite. Get me to Pawnee, Indiana.

Twin Peaks

ABC

Okay, I feel like I might be the only one with this opinion, but I would move to Twin Peaks, Washington in a heartbeat. Yeah, the show Twin Peaks follows the strange events surrounding the death of Laura Palmer, but the town itself is *chef’s kiss*. Twin Peaks was the blueprint for small town sci-fi weirdness and I love that for it. It’s a little spooky and moody but also we have to appreciate the picture-perfect homes, small cafes, and the stunning waterfall in the intro scene.

Virgin River

Netflix

Virgin River is about a nurse practitioner who is looking for a fresh start, and Virgin River, California seems like the perfect place to do so, honestly. It’s set in a remote part of Northern California and looks like such a quiet, peaceful life. It’s very PNW cottagecore and don’t lie, you’ve always wanted to be a forest fairy. Virgin River feels so welcoming to newcomers and it wouldn’t take long to assimilate to their way of life.
