Cinema has long been influential in so many ways.

Film can be a time capsule for pop culture, reveal how society has changed over time, and be a mirror for those seeking answers to the toughest questions of their life. It’s been 137 years since the first movie was ever made, and that one was only 2.1 seconds long, so we have come a long way! This March, let’s celebrate these five movies that have hit a milestone anniversary in the film world.

Erin Brockovich (2000)

Universal Pictures

Erin Brockovich was released March 14, 2000 and is celebrating its 25th anniversary this month. This was a monumental movie because it is a biographical legal drama that dramatized the true story of Erin Brockovich. The story follows an environmental activist as she fights against Pacific Gas & Electric after they wrecked a small town by pollution. Erin Brockovich is streaming on Netflix

Final Destination (2000)

Devon Sawa in the original ‘Final Destination’.

Final Destination is also celebrating its 25th anniversary on March 17 and it changed the horror game with its unique premise. After a student sees a premonition of a flight crash, he and seven other students get forcefully removed from the plane before it takes off. After it does, the plane explodes in the way he sees it. Now, since these 8 students cheated death’s design, they have to look out for each other and cheat death once again as it relentlessly pursues them. Final Destination is streaming on Max

Pretty Woman (1990)

Buena Vista

Pretty Woman is 35 years old this March 23rd. The classic story of a sex worker and a business man falling for one another is probably not a story that would be told in the same way today, but it is still a timeless classic that many still watch and reference. After a business man hires a sex worker to stay with him for a weekend, the two start to fall for each other and learn about each other’s worlds and just how different they are.
