Our Little Secret / Netflix

Give me a movie with the cliché love story and the picturesque towns that don’t exist and I am cuddled up under a blanket and locked in on the storyline.

Sure, some of those movies are really terrible and just a little too cheesy. Still, there is something comforting about a Lifetime-adjacent holiday movie that will turn even the Scroogiest of holiday haters into Buddy the Elf. If you’re a Netflix enjoyer, keep reading while I break down the 5 best holiday movies you should watch on the streaming service this holiday season.

Hot Frosty

One of the most recent holiday releases on Netflix is Hot Frosty. Starring Lacey Chabert as Kathy and Dustin Milligan as Jack, it’s a holiday miracle that brings a hunky snow sculpture to life. Kathy is a widow who owns a local diner in her cute, idyllic town. Since her husband passed, she has not dated and doesn’t take as good care of herself as she should. A friend gives her a red scarf and tells her to get out on the dating scene again, but Kathy drapes the scarf around a snow sculpture of a man instead. In holiday magic fashion, that scarf brings the snowman to life and he is all about helping Kathy become her truest, happiest self again.

Our Little Secret

Netflix

Lindsay Lohan has become the Netflix rom-com queen, having a few different films under her belt over the last few years. Her next one, released on November 27th for the streaming service, is Our Little Secret. 10 years after a breakup with Logan (Ian Harding), Avery (Lohan) is in a new relationship and about to spend the holidays with them for the first time. Unfortunately for her, her new boyfriend is the brother of Logan’s girlfriend. Avery and Logan decide it’s best to keep their old relationship a secret and have to spend their time together in the family house pretending like they don’t have history. What could go wrong?!

Meet Me Next Christmas

Netflix

Christina Milian and Devale Ellis star as Layla and Teddy, an unlikely duo that comes together to help Layla find who she thinks is her true love in Meet Me Next Christmas. Layla meets a man in an airport, and after a short connection with him, they agree to meet next Christmas at a Pentatonix concert if they are both single. Layla and her boyfriend eventually break up, and now she realizes that maybe she should get to the Pentatonix concert and follow fate. This brings her to meet Teddy, a guy dedicated to helping her find a ticket for the sold-out show.

Christmas With You

Netflix

To me, if Freddie Prince Jr. is in a movie, I know I’m automatically going to love it. Prince Jr. stars as Miguel in this cute holiday film about finding your passion and your true love, Christmas With You. Angelina (Aimee Garcia) is a struggling pop star about to be dropped from her label. To get out of her head and do something good for her fans, she agrees to visit her biggest fan in small-town New York. Naturally, while she’s there, there’s a snowstorm and she’s stuck with the family for longer than intended. However, this is great for Angelina as she starts to find a zest for her career again and potentially even true love with the single dad, Freddie Prince Charming, I mean Miguel.

Dolly Parton’s Christmas On The Square

Netflix

Okay, so maybe not everyone wants to watch a musical but come on, it’s Dolly Parton! In Dolly Parton’s Christmas On The Square, Christine Baranski stars as Regina, a holiday Scrooge who sells her town on short notice. She inherited the town after her dad died, but doesn’t see it as a beautiful place to live and views it more as a business development. Everyone in town is trying to stop Regina from getting rid of their home, but it takes a miraculous visit from the Angel that is Dolly Parton to make her reconsider. Classic. We love you, Dolly!
