Don’t Skip This Prayer

By

This prayer by poet Rebecca Simon, author of 111 Devotions, will help start December off right for you.

Lord, thank You for carrying me through another month.

It’s only by Your grace that I’m still here, still standing, still becoming.

Your love is the steady thing that keeps pulling me forward.

And yet, even surrounded by Your goodness, I still feel the quiet places inside me that ache.

I still find myself wrestling with thoughts I can’t always name.

Lord, I confess—I overthink.

I worry about things You never asked me to hold.

I plan too far ahead in hopes of protecting myself,

and I try to take control of pieces of my life that were always meant to rest in Your hands.

But You remind me—every single time—that nothing is too big for You.

You’ve made a way for me before, and I trust that You will do it again.

If You woke me up today, it means there is still purpose breathing in me.

So help me, God.

Fill my heart with peace where fear has lived too long, with hope where disappointment has tried to settle, and with courage where uncertainty whispers doubt.

I love You, Lord.
