When Love Ends, But God Still Has A Plan For You

Just because we didn’t last doesn’t mean the love was a waste, was something to forget. Some stories are simply just not meant to stay with us, are not meant to root — they are meant to shape us, to grow us, to change the weather in our world.

Notes on faith by Rebecca Simon.

What we had mattered — it softened us, it challenged us, it carried us as far as it could. That alone is holy enough. That alone is special.

I don’t see you as someone I need to outgrow, I don’t see you as someone I need to make wrong. I want you to win just as much as I want to win, too. I want you to be happy.

I’m not here to make you regret or wonder. I’m here to keep growing, I’m here to continue figuring my heart out. There is room for both of us to heal without comparison, there is room for both of us to find joy outside of competition or external pressure to win or to thrive.

I am not searching for someone better than you. I am simply learning how to trust that God will lead me towards what aligns with who I am still becoming — just as I hope he will do for you. We were never enemies. We were simply bordering one another for a season, for a beautiful moment in time, and now we are walking in different directions. Now we are closing the chapter.

If our paths ever cross again, I hope it feels peaceful. I hope we can smile and remember that what we shared mattered, even if it didn’t last, even if it didn’t beat the odds. No bitterness. No resentment. Just gratitude for what was and faith in where we are both headed next.
