A Lot Can Happen Before December 31st, Let God Surprise You
Christian writer and author of Let Go, Trust God, Rebecca Simon, talks about how much can still change before 2026.

Not every year moves loudly. Some years feel like waiting rooms. Some years feel like wandering hope — like chapters that are filled with quiet prayers that have only been met with silence. When you’re in a season like that, when the year feels like it has slipped through your fingers, when the final stretch draws near, it is easy to wonder if anything will change. If anything can change. It’s easy to start believing that the story for this chapter of your life has already been written, that this just isn’t the year where things begin again, where things connect.

But here’s the truth — December 31st is not a deadline for God. It is a date on a calendar. Just because it feels too late for you, does not mean that it is too late for him, does not mean that it is too late for your blessings.
Three months is still time for a heart to change. It is still time for clarity to crack into the corners of your life that have felt dark, that have felt stuck. It is still time for tenderness to arrive, for an apology to reach towards you, for the right door to open in a way that expands everything, in a way that blows your whole world open. We underestimate what can unfold in a single week, let alone an entire season. We forget that God has always been in the business of doing more than we can imagine, that he has always come through, often in the moments we expect it the least, often in the moment we have turned away from our belief.

If you are tempted to call this year a waste — breathe. Come back home to yourself. This is not wasted time. The final stretch of a year often holds the most sacred kind of work. Not always in the most external or measured ways, but in the quiet, hidden ones that lay the foundation for what is next. Don’t forget that your roots have to deepen before you will ever see the fruit. Don’t forget that your preparation happens in the dark before it ever becomes visible in the light. What feels like delay is often the mercy that strengthens you for the weight of the blessings you will receive, for the weight of the life you are stepping into.

Do not close your heart before God has closed his hand. Do not tell yourself that the story is over when the author is still writing it. Every single day until December 31st holds possibility. Every single day still carries the potential to bring you closer to what you have been asking for, or to gift you something entirely different — something you didn’t even know you needed.
It is not too late for God to surprise you. It is not too late for this year to hold meaning. You are not behind, you are not forgotten, and you are not exempt from goodness simply because it hasn’t happened yet. Trust that God can still turn the page. Trust that he is building.

Let the final months of this year be marked by hope, by faith. Lean into this season with trust. Pray like the door will open tomorrow, because it could. Live like you are still being led into something deeper than you can imagine, because you are. You are.
A lot can happen before December 31st. Stay open, and let God surprise you.
