When You Can’t Settle, Your Life Won’t Either

You still choose the hard way because you don’t want to settle. You still follow your voice even if you’re outnumbered. You still believe against all odds.

When you can’t settle, your life will be one bumpy ride of evolution, change and discomfort because you will find yourself taking the road less traveled and probably by yourself and it will be exhausting because you will find yourself moving from one job to another, from one country to another. You will live a hundred different lives in one lifetime because you’re always trying to find your calling, trying to find your purpose and trying to find something that may not make sense to other people but means the world to you. You will find yourself always wandering, sometimes lost and it may take you years to find a place you can call ‘home.’

Your life will be a series of inconsistent events and you may never understand stability until you’re finally living the life you want to live. You won’t be able to sleep at night until you’re holding your dreams in your hands. Sometimes it will feel more like a curse when you don’t know where you’re going or who will help you, when you feel alone most of the time because no one can understand what’s in your head or what’s in your heart and sometimes you don’t even understand yourself.

Your life will feel like a never-ending struggle — it’s true that God gives his toughest battles to his strongest soldiers but you will know pain too well. Your life will not be smooth and you will endure a lot before you can finally know peace. Before you find a place where you belong and before you can be happy with who you are and what you’re doing.

But I know that after the storm has passed and the roller coaster stops, you will get there. You will finally have a stable life; a life you’re happy with. A life you’re proud of. I know because you’re still searching for answers and trying to make things happen. You still choose the hard way because you don’t want to settle. You still follow your voice even if you’re outnumbered. You still believe against all odds.

And maybe life is not meant to be stable and consistent, maybe you’re not meant to find the life you want easily because there’s so much more to it than stability. There’s so much more to it than a bucket list.

So maybe you shouldn’t settle until you know who you are and what you love or until you find the place that has all of that combined and that’s the place you keep longing for, the place you want to go back to you for more than one reason, the place that might not be the most beautiful place on earth but it’s the one that captured your heart. The one that makes you feel like settling down rather than settling. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
