13 Reasons Why Being Single And Living Alone Is Kind Of The Best

People have different points of view when it comes to being single and living alone. Some do like it, some don’t. I personally love my single life. I am never fond of big crowds or big social parties. I consider myself quite a loner and always feel awkward meeting strangers. My parents raised me to be very independent.  And that might be a contributing factor to why I’m totally ok being by myself. There are many things why it’s so awesome being single and living alone.

1. You have everything to yourself.

That’s obvious. All the space is yours. You don’t have to worry about sharing anything. You do exactly anything you please.

2. Everything stays where you left it.

Don’t you love it when you can find anything where you left it? Maybe I am a bit much but I don’t like (bad) surprises. If I leave it somewhere, I expect it to stay.

3. No compromise needed.

You don’t have to worry about what to cook for dinner for another person. You don’t have to discuss about which color of the wall for the dining room or what type of bedsheets you should have.

4. You go out or stay in whenever you want.

You don’t feel pressured or obligated to go anywhere if you want to stay in, and vice versa.

5. The remote control is yours.

Your watchlist is definitely yours. There is no interruption. You can play or pause whenever you want.

6. You can drink out of a carton/bottle.

Well, you’re not sharing with anyone. So, why not?

7. The toilet seat is always down (or up) as you leave it.

No more annoyance of why it’s not down or up because you are the only one who uses it.

8. No family drama (except yours).

When you’re alone, you’re dealing only with your family drama (because every family has one). But you don’t have to worry about your significant other’s as well.

9. You don’t have to clean up after anyone.

Or even yourself if you don’t want to.

10. You plan a vacation (or not) just for you.

Where to stay or what to do is up to you. Or if you want staycation, that’s fine too.

11. You splurge on what you want.

And you don’t have to justify the purchase to anyone.

12. You can burp or fart freely.

Nobody is there to judge. That’s quite relieving!

13. You have more time to reflect on yourself.

All the time is yours so you can spend time to really get to know yourself and what you want. When you know yourself better, you love yourself more and only allow what you deserve into your life.

Since we’re social creatures in general, I’m certain most of us want to be with someone eventually. But unless that person makes you happier being in a relationship than being alone, don’t settle. Being single is super awesome. Enjoy it! Thought Catalog Logo Mark
