Studio Ghibli Fest Is Bringing A Fan Favorite Back To Theaters In June

By

Studio Ghibli Fest is finally back, and there’s a much-loved film that will be hitting theaters once more in June. The Secret World of Arrietty, a movie based on the book series The Borrowers, will be coming back to theaters on June 22nd.

This year marks the 15th anniversary of The Secret World of Arrietty, which follows a young girl (Arrietty) and her family who are the size of fairies. They live in a secret home they established inside a country cottage, where a young human boy about Arrietty’s age with a heart condition lives with his great aunt.

Arrietty often comes out of hiding to retrieve supplies from the rest of the household, causing her to be discovered by the young boy. He plans to help the family, who has decided they must move away out of fear of being discovered.

The sweet, touching film first made its debut in 2010, where fans fell in love with its calming world, beautiful soundtrack, and tear-jerking plot line. It’s a movie that’s truly perfect for all ages — families will want to see it together over and over again, while the plot line is still something that can be appreciated by adults, too.

The English dub of The Secret World of Arrietty will run from Sunday, June 22nd to Tuesday, June 24th, depending on location. The Japanese dub will release on June 23rd, also depending on location.

If you’re interested in catching a family-friendly Studio Ghibli movie, now’s your chance. Both June and July will feature films appropriate for all ages, while August will be taken over by Grave of the Fireflies, a movie that’s known for how devastatingly gut-wrenching it is.
