The Fall Guy / Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Here’s Everything We Know About Star Wars’ 2027 Film Starring Ryan Gosling

Now THIS'LL be good.

By

This year, a brand new Star Wars film is set to begin production, and fans across the globe can’t wait to see what director Shawn Levy has in store.

A major announcement was already made earlier this week as actor Ryan Gosling joined the film as a titular character.

The film is currently titled Starfighter, and will be an independent that works outside of the franchise’s main plot line. While there’s been rumors that actor Daisy Ridley will reprise her role as Rey for the next Star Wars trilogy, this film will be unrelated — a chance to explore Star Wars outside of its primary storylines.

It’s probably no surprise that the film’s storyline is still under wraps — there’s not even confirmation on what role Gosling will play, but there’s little doubt that it will be an incredible one. Both Levy and Gosling have expressed their excitement about joining the Star Wars franchise, and most fans are excitedly anticipating the release of the new film.

Starfighter’s current release date is slated for May 28th, 2027, though it hasn’t yet begun filming. Filming will take place this coming fall, and it’s likely that many more updates about the storyline and release will come out when filming officially begins.

Now that the announcement about Gosling’s involvement has dropped, we’re patiently waiting for the names of more celebrities that will be joining Starfighter’s cast — and maybe a little more information on what the film is about, too. Regardless, it promises to be a unique deep dive into an entirely new portion of the Star Wars world — or, uh, worlds.
