The Women in The Yard

This Is The Horror Movie You Can’t Miss Watching In Theaters This Spring

The same horror movie powerhouse studio behind Get Out, Insidious, and Martyrs is bringing a brand new horror concept to theaters this spring (release date March 28th) and it’s one you absolutely can’t miss seeing on the big screen.

Blumhouse studios is bringing to life The Woman In The Yard, which follows the story of a mother who survived a car accident that killed her husband. Struggling with survivor’s guilt and raising her two young children alone, the family of three are still living in their rural farmhouse when a mysterious veiled woman suddenly appears in their yard.

Trapped by the stranger who somehow appears closer and closer to the house throughout the day, the family must futilely protect themselves against this ominous paranormal spirit.

Blumhouse truly does best at quietly violent paranormal films. The concept of The Woman In The Yard seems bland and almost boring at first, but it is this doom-and-gloom paranormal tension that the studio has a massively successful history with.

While it’s true that The Woman In The Yard is sure to be full of jumpscares and thrills, it is also a film that must find success without immense violence or cheap tricks. It has a PG-13 rating, which significantly limits the amount of gore The Woman In The Yard will be showing onscreen.

Additionally, the film follows one antagonist — the woman in the yard herself — and a single setting throughout the entire film. Besides the family of three and flashbacks of the deceased father, it’s unlikely that other characters will appear throughout the movie, leaving only four titular characters to be followed throughout the entire film.

This setup is perfect for the kind of horror movie that is beautifully done yet hard to find nowadays; that silent, creeping horror that overtakes you slowly, leaving you on the edge of your seat, holding your breath, and squinting through your eyes in fear the entire time. This is no slasher film; The Woman In The Yard promises to tell the story of a small-town rural horror that strikes a quiet family at random — the type of horror that could happen to anyone. The type of horror that leaves you on edge for weeks after the movie is over.

The Woman In The Yard is sure to be a box office hit, given the fact that horror movies are often even more exciting to see when you can’t turn down the volume or pause the flick whenever you get scared. The Woman In The Yard is the type of horror that’s completely out of your control, and the best way to feel the full force of that eerie, creeping dread is by watching it on the big screen.

The movie officially releases on March 28th, and it’s expected to be available to stream on Peacock after its box office run is over.
