8. From Justin to Kelly

I feel genuinely bad for poor, sweet Kelly Clarkson for being stuck in this mess, part of the contractual obligation for American Idol’s Season One winners to film a movie together.

The movie really wants to be Beach Blanket Bingo, but it wouldn’t even pass for bad community theatre, and Corky St. Clair would have turned up his nose as a script that looks at this line as passable. Justin and Kelly first encounter one another in a Meet Cute in the girls’ bathroom, one that requires Justin to sneak out the window. Justin gripes, “Girl, my hair won’t even fit through there.” To which Kelly responds, “I’m from Texas. I’ve seen bigger.” It doesn’t help that they have the chemistry of a hand and a garbage disposal.
