Inside Man showed that Spike Lee is a surprisingly adept workman director, and if there’s anybody who can stay true to the grittiness of the original text, it’s Spike Lee. Based on a graphic novel and a Korean cult classic (Chan-wook Park, I love you), the remake has done almost everything right, right down to an eerie poster that captures the spirit of the source material. I’m nervous about it (because I had to watch Miracle at St. Anna), but when Spike Lee is on, there’s no one else who match his passion. The crazy will be unleashed this fall.
