7. Cameron Diaz: Best Supporting Actress

I’m going to get shit for this, but I think Cameron Diaz is overdue for an Oscar nomination. She’s come close with Vanilla Sky and Being John Malkovich (which earned her SAG and Golden Globes noms), and The Counselor looks to be her Paperboy ticket. Despite tepid reception to the film, her role is the buzziest thing in it, frontloaded in press for the film. Early reactions suggested she could finally nab a nomination, and like Kidman last year, it won’t happen, ever, but I can dream. Windshield humping has to get you something.
