3 Of The Best Shows To Watch If You’re In A Situationship
Situationships can be fun, they can feel complicated, and they can also be completely heartbreaking.
Situationships are basically a rite of passage into modern dating culture. These are undefined, fluid relationships that don’t have a label but still can form deep bonds and attachment.
Situationships can be fun, they can feel complicated, and they can also be completely heartbreaking. If you’re in the midst of a situationship, these three shows are the perfect watch.
1. The Bold Type
The Bold Type is about three best friends living in New York City. They all work at Scarlet, a global women’s magazine like Cosmopolitan. (Fun fact: The show is actually based on the career of Cosmopolitan’s former editor-in-chief Joanna Coles who also was an executive producer of the series.)
In addition to navigating the bustling city and their careers, The Bold Type women also are figuring out their love lives. The series features various modern dating pitfalls, including situationships, making it a fun and totally relatable watch.
2. Sex and The City
You can’t recommend shows about situationships, modern dating, and love without mentioning the iconic Sex and The City. It was a breakthrough series because of the frank manner the show discussed and portrayed women’s sex lives. Carrie, Miranda, Samantha, and Charlotte all deal with their fair share of heartbreaks, casual relationships, and dating mishaps.
3. Laid
Peacock’s new comedy series Laid stars Stephanie Hsu as Ruby Yao, a woman whose messy sexual past is catching up to her in a rather grim way–every person she’s ever slept with is dying in mysterious ways (and in the order in which she hooked up with each one). To try to figure out what’s going on, Ruby teams up with her true crime-loving best friend AJ (Zosia Mamet) to figure out what the heck is going on and how they can stop more ex-lovers from dying. It’s a hilarious black comedy that’s well worth watching, especially if your situationship feels like it’s literally killing you. (See what I did there?)
