5 Movie Characters That Were Perfectly Cast
Here are five movie characters that were perfectly cast.
1. Heath Ledger as The Joker in The Dark Knight
The late Heath Ledger portrayed the truly sinister Joker in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight perfectly. He did such an amazing job that he even won a posthumous Supporting Actor Oscar for his part in the 2008 film.
To prepare for the role, Ledger famously locked himself away in a hotel room for six weeks to dig deep into the psychology of the Joker. Ledger based his Joker’s appearance on Sid Vicious and his insane mannerisms on A Clockwork Orange’s Alex De Large. Ledger wanted to separate his interpretation of the Joker from Jack Nicholson’s 1989 rendition.
2. Rosamund Pike as Amy Dunne in Gone Girl
Gone Girl, based on the psychological thriller by Gillian Flynn, needed the perfect lead to capture Amy Dunne. Well, Rosamund Pike delivered. No one else could have played Amy Dunne better than Pike.
3. Rachel McAdams as Regina George in Mean Girls
It makes sense why Rachel McAdams’ breakout role was Regina George; she captured the queen bee perfectly. Bitchy, calculating, and brilliant, you wouldn’t want to cross Regina in the hall. McAdams delivered Regina’s faux sweet lines perfectly.
4. Alan Rickman as Professor Severus Snape in the Harry Potter series
Alan Rickman truly became Professor Severus Snape in the Harry Potter series. The voice, the inflections, the mannerisms, everything Rickman did was exactly what we imagined Snape would do when reading the J.K. Rowling book series.
5. Kathy Bates as Anne Wilkes in Misery
Who can forget Kathy Bates as Anne Wilkes in the adaptation of Stephen King’s Misery? In fact, as Redditor AresTheGreatOne
put it:
“She was terrifyingly perfect. Kathy Bates made Misery so intense that even thinking about a bed and a sledgehammer still gives me chills.”
