Anyone who knows me knows about my love for Pete Davidson. I first fell in love seeing him on Weekend Update in like 2016 and I’ve made my crush on him my entire personality ever since. Pete’s self-deprecating humor combined with being hilariously truthful are what I adore about his comedy.

However, the biggest reason I admire the former Saturday Night Live cast member so much is because of his openness about mental health. He has been candid about his borderline personality disorder diagnosis and as someone else who has BPD, this has meant everything. He brings light to darkness in this way and has sincerely made me feel less alone with my own mental health struggles. I’m sure others feel the same way. Because honestly, if you don’t laugh, you’ll cry, ya feel?

Anyway, now before I start sobbing, here are six of the best Pete Davidson Weekend Update appearances!

1. Pete Davidson on Staten Island

I had to list this one first because it was the first time I was introduced to Pete. In this Weekend Update appearance, Pete explains why he hates his hometown of Staten Island so much.

2. Pete Davidson on Kanye West

Here, Pete discusses Kanye West’s antics after the rapper’s recent performance on SNL. Expect plenty of Pete making fun of himself and some excellent commentary on living with mental illness. For example: “Being mentally ill is not an excuse to act like a jackass. And I’m quoting my therapist, my mom, and my mailman. Sorry, Carl!”

3. Pete Davidson & John Mulaney Review Clint Eastwood’s The Mule

Pete riffs with John Mulaney about the Clint Eastwood movie The Mule. They really play off each other’s energy and it enhances the whole appearance.

4. Pete Davidson on Living With His Mom

Pete bought a house with his mom Amy, and he lives in the basement. So, naturally, Pete has to make this as bit. “This is a gonna be a special Mother’s Day for me because this year, she’s not just my mom but she’s also my roommate!” Amy also makes an appearance, which Pete considers to be her Mother’s Day gift since he “put her on TV.”

5. Pete Davidson Talks Business

This Weekend Update appearance is from when Pete was still referred to as the segment’s “Resident Young Person.” (As a reminder, Pete was the youngest person to join Saturday Night Live since Eddie Murphy.) Anyway, it’s just silly.

6. Pete Davidson on Trump’s Impeachment

Pete doesn’t really talk about Trump’s impeachment here. Instead, he discusses his recent life updates and how he’s the best case scenario if someone’s daughter or mother would be interested in him romantically. “There’s a million guys who look like me and I’m the only one with a job,” he joked.

Anyway, as one commenter on YouTube put it best, “Nobody is better at making fun of Pete than Pete.” And that’s exactly why I love him.
