As each of us navigates our way through life, there will inevitably be times that we feel lost, uninspired, and off-track. But nevertheless, whether that means a loss of direction, a U-turn, or even a quick roadblock, it’s so important to remember that we are exactly where we are meant to be and that time will often show us the way, whether we see it now or not.
Throughout my own life, I’ve changed directions more times than you can probably count. But I guess what has always kept me going is finding appreciation and compassion for where I am in this moment and who I’ve become. Not judging myself for where I think I need to be, but rather loving who I am now while also accepting the fact that I am a constant work-in-progress. Never fully grown, but always constantly growing. Never fully there, but always constantly living for the moment now.
I think part of what makes life so exciting is not necessarily knowing all the answers, but rather having a direction and some goals and just seeing where it all goes. Because at least from what I’ve learned, it’s impossible to predict the future. All we can do now is follow what lights us up and lead with what makes us feel the most alive. That’s all we can ever do.
So if you’re feeling lost right now, you should know that social media doesn’t paint the whole picture. You should know that nobody has a perfect life free of problems, but rather a life full of complexities, challenges, and obstacles. This is a part of it all. This is why we are here. This is part of growing up.
We’re not here to know all the answers, nor are we here to even have to figure them all out. We are here to enjoy, to live, to be happy, to find our sense of meaning in it all, and I think too many of us let the spellbinding hold of uncertainty dictate how we feel and how we live in this moment right now.
We so often compare our story and where we are to others. But in doing so, we feel lost and as though we need to “figure ourselves out,” when really, there’s nothing to be figured out. We just have to go with the flow of life and follow what feels right to each of us at this point in time right now.
If you’re feeling lost right now, don’t sweat it. Don’t let uncertainty ruin the beauty of this moment, because these are moments that we will never get back. These are precious points in time that will become lost all before we can even blink.
If you’re feeling lost right now, trust the process. Don’t allow another person’s journey to reflect your own. Trust the timing. Trust where you are. Trust that you are exactly where you need to be right now in order to receive the lesson that you need to learn.
And finally, if you’re feeling lost right now, know that all you have to do is follow your intuition. Trust the little echo in your soul and believe that you are being called in the right direction, regardless of what anyone else is telling you.
There are no right or wrong turns in life, just lessons and experiences that we all go through. So be gentle with yourself. You’re doing great.
