Stop Waiting For Him To Come Back, He’s Not Going To
He could have fought for you. He could have tried harder. He could have loved you more. And he didn't.
By Kris Miller
He’s not going to come to his senses. He’s not going to magically wake up one day and realize he let go of the best thing to ever happen to him. He’s not going to beg on his hands and knees, desperate that you’ll forgive him for how badly he hurt you.
He made things very clear when he walked away. His actions speak volumes. And I know this is difficult to hear. I know we want to believe that the ones who destroyed us always regret it.
But sometimes they don’t. Sometimes they keep going and never turn back to see if you’re okay. Sometimes they find happiness in other places and other people and it seems so unfair.
Waiting for him to change his mind is just going to delay your healing. Waiting for him to reverse everything he’s done is going to break your heart over and over again.
He made a choice. He let you go.
So now, it’s time for you to do the same. It’s time for you to wash your hands of his spell. It’s time to lean on friends and family, the ones who’ve always been there. It’s time to remember his flaws and not gloss over them. It’s time to look towards the future. A future that includes warmth and understanding. A future where you’re not clinging to his mistakes. A future where you’re ready and accepting.
Maybe, one day, he’ll say sorry. Maybe, one day, he’ll admit he was wrong.
But he still made a choice. He could have fought for you. He could have tried harder. He could have loved you more. And he didn’t.
Eventually, you’ll meet someone who will. You’ll meet someone who gives you everything he promised. Everything you prayed he would return with. And it’ll be so much easier.
You’ll realize him leaving was a blessing in disguise. That all the tears and sleepless nights were over a man who never deserved your heart. That all the time spent asking him to love you the right way is a waste when it falls on ears that don’t care.
You’ll realize him leaving freed you. There is liberation in this. One day. One day, you’ll see.
