Trust me, you don’t need them.
You don’t need someone who can’t see your value.
You don’t need someone who makes you feel bad.
You don’t need someone who doesn’t support you.
You don’t need someone who can’t love you for who you are.
You don’t need them.
And you don’t need to feel bad for it.
You are who you are.
You deserve to be with someone who appreciates you, cares for you, and embraces you for all that you are. This include both romantic and platonic relationships.
You deserve to surround yourself with people who are going to lift your spirits and make you wanted. People who will be front row at your musicals, or help edit your university essays. People who celebrate your achievements, but also hold you through your failures.
You deserve to be picky about who you keep in your life. Don’t feel bad or guilty about that. Be picky. Have high standards.
If someone can’t treat you with love and respect. If someone doesn’t make a positive impact on your life.
It is okay to let them go.
In fact, let them go.
It doesn’t make your ‘standards too high’ or make you ‘too hard to handle’.
It means you deserve better and they’re not giving it to you.
It means you value yourself and your happiness above all else,
And you should.
You don’t need anyone who makes you feel hard to love or makes you feel guilty for being upset with the way they treat you. The people you surround yourself with, help shape who you are. So surround yourself with people who are going to shape you into the best person you can possibly be.
Trust your feelings.
You are allowed to let people go. You are allowed to feel upset for not getting what you deserve.
Your feelings are valid.
You are valid.
Be brave. Be strong.
Love yourself, and put yourself first.
It’s not selfish,
It’s needed.
You need yourself, not them.
