The World May Change Overnight (But God’s Love & Generosity Never Will)
All perfect gifts, blessings, and goodness originate from God. Best-selling author of Beauty in the Stillness, Karin Hadadan, writes about our loving God whose generosity prevails and remains constant despite our ever-changing world.
The talents within us, the light inside of us, the love in our hearts, the favors we receive, the protection we enjoy—all flow from Him. When we think about perfection, we often struggle to grasp what it truly means in our imperfect world—but in God’s eyes, perfection suggests completeness, wholeness, and lacking nothing.
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.
James 1:17
So when we receive good and perfect gifts that feel right, aligned, and vibrant, we can trust they’re coming straight from the ‘Father of heavenly lights.’
Discerning God’s gifts can be both obvious and subtle. Whenever we receive something—be it abundance, love, success, fortune, or an answer to prayer—a simple way to discern its source is to ask, ‘Is this coming from a place of love and light?’ If we’re still unsure, we can directly ask God, ‘Is this coming from you?’ and allow the truth to be revealed within the space of stillness and prayer.

The beauty of this verse isn’t only in depicting God’s gifts but in revealing His unchanging nature in our constantly changing world. Unlike the shifting shadows, God Himself ‘does not change.’ He is not only our Creator but our consistent Giver who overflows our lives at each moment—allowing us to find gratitude not just in major blessings but in the micro-moments of each day that provide light to our path. In a world where everything seems to shift and change, there is profound comfort in knowing that the source of all good gifts remains constant, reliable, and ever-generous.
