Ranking Ramona Flowers’ Exes From ‘Scott Pilgrim’ From Least To Most Toxic

Ramona Flowers has dated a lot of duds.

By

An underrated cult classic, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World hits its 15th anniversary on August 13, 2025 after its 2010 release.

Starring Michael Cera as the titular character, a slacking love-obsessed bass player who’s tasked with defeating his new-new love interest’s seven evil exes. When Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) appears in Scott’s dreams, she becomes a literal manic pixie dream girl, the girl of Scott’s dreams, and he will do anything to be with her despite knowing little about her.

15 years later, rewatching Scott Pilgrim reminds us how impressive the editing, direction, and humor is. With A-list cast members such as Kieran Culkin as Scott’s gay roommate Wallace, Anna Kendrick as Scott’s sister Stacey, Brie Larson as Scott’s own evil ex Envy Adams, and Aubrey Plaza as Scott’s hateful “friend” Julie Powers, Scott Pilgrim deserves a spot on every film buff’s top films of the 2010s. The deadpan delivery of the characters, animated flourishes, and indie punk soundtrack pay homage to the source material, the Scott Pilgrim graphic novel series that began in 2004. But the film’s plot revolves around Scott’s task to defeat Ramona’s seven evil exes, so we’re ranking them from the least to most toxic.

Least Toxic: The Katayanagi Twins (Keita and Shota Saito)

Universal Pictures

Scott learns near the end of the film that Ramona dated not one, but both twins. In the graphic novels, they have a much bigger role, but in the film, they don’t even have any lines. They simply fight Scott and his band through an Amp vs. Amp battle at the Battle of the Bands. The scene is epic as they tear the roof off and release mystical twin dragons through their music. But Scott’s band, the Sex Bob-Ombs, release their own beastly mystical gorilla to defeat the twins and reward Scott with an extra life. The fight may be legendary and memorable, but as far as their toxicity goes, they seem pretty innocent in the film.

Lucas Lee (Chris Evans)

Universal Pictures

Ramona’s high school ex-boyfriend, Lucas Lee, goes on to gain fame and fortune after their tweenage breakup. But unlike Ramona’s other exes, he seems disinterested in fighting Scott, only forced to battle when Scott happens upon him when he’s on set. Lucas sets his stunt doubles on Scott, choosing to opt out of fighting, and Scott defeats Lucas by challenging him to do a skateboard grind down 200 steps. Lucas might have some ego and laziness, but as far as toxicity goes, he’s basically the least of Scott and Ramona’s worries.

Roxy Richter (Mae Whitman)

Universal Pictures

Through the first half of the film, Scott repeatedly calls Ramona’s exes ex-boyfriends, but she corrects him with “exes,” although it doesn’t click until he meets Roxy. She holds onto anger, but not because of hatred, but because she feels used by Ramona, who was just exploring her sexuality during a bi-curious phase. Scott refuses to fight Roxy, leaving Ramona and Roxy to battle, until Scott is forced to take Roxy down using her weakness, poking her in the back of the knee. When not fighting, Roxy is chill with Ramona and Scott, even friendly. But she’s all in on the League of Evil Exes, and still resentful towards Ramona, making her slightly more toxic than Lucas and the Katayanagi Twins.

Matthew Patel (Satya Bhabha)

Universal Pictures

Ramona’s middle school ex-boyfriend, Matthew Patel, is Scott’s first battler. Before the battle, he even emails Scott to give him a heads up, but he approaches the battle with pride, an awkward costume, and a cringey song. His overconfidence and obsession with the past make him way more toxic than the previous three; he’s attached to someone from over a decade ago and thinks he will defeat Scott with so much ease that he sings and dances to battle. Even though he has powers, his embarrassing pirate look allows Scott to defeat the toxic ex with ease.

Todd Ingram (Brandon Routh)

Universal Pictures

The penultimate ex on the list, Todd Ingram is almost Ramona’s most toxic ex. In a tense meeting of the exes, Todd is currently dating Scott’s own evil ex, Natalie “Envy” Adams while serving as the bass player for her band. Todd was Ramona’s longest and most serious ex before Gideon, who showed his love through empty grand gestures, such as punching a hole in the moon for Ramona. But those gestures mean nothing in comparison to how he treats his girlfriends on a day-to-day basis, putting his vegan moral high ground and vengefulness over love. But despite using his status as a vegan to claim he’s better than other people, he cheats on his veganism, which forces him to lose his powers, leading to his defeat.

Most Toxic: Gideon “G-Man” Graves (Jason Schwartzman)

Universal Pictures

Played to perfection by Jason Schwartzman, Gideon is the talk of the film by Scott’s bandmates and Ramona’s exes. We learn that he actually assembled the League of Evil Exes in a bid to defeat Scott (or any future suitors) and keep Ramona as his arm candy forever. Ramona reveals that Gideon “has something over her,” even though she always felt lonely when she was with him. It turns out that the “something” is actually a microchip, a literal mind-control device, easily making him the most toxic ex. He’s possessive, controlling, greedy, and some could even say abusive, so ladies, stay away from the G-Man.
