Someone Is Leaving Me Messages On An Answering Machine, But I Know For A Fact He’s Not Alive

I took to my phone to call Domino’s while standing in the light of the kitchen and biting off every one of my nails.

“Domino’s,” the voice of a young woman answered on the other line.

“Hey, uh yeah. One of your delivery drivers just came here. Left the pizza and didn’t take my money.”

I realized how bizarre it was calling a place and explaining to them I was kind of complaining about not paying for the food they basically gave to me for free.

There was a long silence on the other end. I was about to jump in and break it, but the girl on the other line beat me to it.

“He just came back and told us what happened?”

“What do you mean, what happened?” I fired back, growing offended, assuming he was making up something I had done.

“Look I’m just going to tell you what Billy came back here and told me. I will preface it by saying that Billy has worked her for almost two years and has never done anything remotely like this. He is the best employee we have ever had in my seven years of managing here so I have no reason not to believe him. I will also say that what I am going to tell you sounds pretty disturbing to me.”

“What?” I shot back numbly.
