Netflix doesn’t always have the best selection of horror movies, but for a few more days they’re streaming the scariest movie ever made (according to Creepy Catalog). That movie is Hereditary and it’s leaving Netflix on Monday, April 14.

What is Hereditary about? Written and directed by Ari Aster, Hereditary is a family drama about grief told through the vehicle of terrifying supernatural horror. The Graham family is already dealing with the loss of secretive grandmother Ellen when an even more tragic loss suddenly occurs. The Grahams splinter and fight while experiencing increasingly scary supernatural events that culminate in the reveal of a sinister family secret.

What makes Hereditary so good? The second Graham family death, which occurs about 30 minutes into the film, is sudden and shocking, setting the audience on edge for the rest of the film. Toni Collette’s lack of an Academy Award nomination for her performance as Annie Graham might be the Oscar fumble of the century. The acting is phenomenal, the family’s story is compelling and relatable, the scares are SCARY and like Ari Aster’s second feature film, Midsommar, it provides catharsis for viewers who are processing their own big feelings. Hereditary is also just a unique film because it explores taboo topics like a mother regretting the birth of her children.

Is Hereditary too scary? It might be. Hereditary is one of the scariest movies ever made. If you’re worried about it being too scary for your personal enjoyment, this guide highlights all the major scares in the movie so you can prepare yourself ahead of time. Or, you can skip Hereditary and enjoy one of these lighter horror movies without much blood or gore.

Hereditary is streaming on Netflix until April 14.
