"I feel like something bad is going to happen to me."

Prime Video’s streaming selection is full of horror movies that fall across the spectrum from major Hollywood releases to corny low-budget flicks. Because the catalog is so large, it’s easy for good films to fall through the cracks. One of those great hidden gems is Lake Mungo (2008).

Lake Mungo is an Australian horror movie about a grieving family. After 16-year-old Alice Palmer drowns, her family begins experiencing paranormal phenomena in their home. Alice’s brother Matthew sets up cameras and believes he has captured footage of Alice’s spirit.

What makes Lake Mungo so good? The found footage format is expertly used to create suspense about the mystery of Alice’s death. Footage of paranormal activity adds scares throughout the film and culminates in a well-executed twist. It also has one of the most unnerving endings in horror.

Lake Mungo is currently streaming on Prime Video.
