Max Just Dropped An Original Comedy Horror Movie
Max is a streaming service known for its original content. Spellbinding shows like Game of Thrones, The Sopranos and Big Little Lies were all created by HBO/Max. Now, Max has debuted an original comedy horror movie with stars like Brian Cox, Lisa Kudrow and Parker Posey.
The Parenting (2025) is about a gay couple who bring both of their parents to a country house for a weekend retreat. Secretly, one of the men plans to propose at the end of the trip. Instead, the three couples discover the house is haunted. The comedy/horror comes from the unpleasant prospect of, as one of the gay men exclaim, being “trapped in a haunted house with my f*cking parents!”

Director Craig Johnson previously directed films like True Adolescents (2009), The Skeleton Twins (2014) and the TV series Special created by Thought Catalog alum Ryan O’Connell. The Parenting was written by former long-time Saturday Night Live writer Kent Sublette.
