Will ‘Terrifier 4’ Be The Last ‘Terrifier’ Film?
The writer/director says he already knows what the end of the 'Terrifier' franchise will be.
Terrifier is a controversial horror franchise that splits fans between those who appreciate the wild extremes antagonist Art the Clown goes to and those who think the films offer nothing more than shock value. 2024’s Terrifier 3 was the most successful film in the series so far and is the highest-grossing unrated film ever made. What’s ahead for the franchise? Writer/director Damien Leone has talked about what we might see.
Leone says he wants to end the franchise in a deliberate way: “My big fear is of going on too long and wearing out my welcome… Because that does happen to all of my favourites. Almost always it happens to the slasher franchises where they make 10 of them. I want to have a solid franchise, whether it be a trilogy – or maybe a quadrilogy if I have one more in mind – where it starts, where it ends, and you can walk away with a satisfying conclusion and closure and say that was pretty cool.”
In an interview with SFX, Leone says that he already knows what the end of the Terrifier franchise will be: “I have the whole story mapped out. I had it mapped out since part two.” Creepy Catalog previously summarized what he has said about how he sees the story concluding here.
The big question is whether Leone will be able to fit this story into just one more film. It seems like it is too early in the writing process of Terrifier 4 to know whether this will be the final Terrifier film. If the remaining story is too much for one film, it is entirely possible we will see a Terrifier 5.
